IZVG vet Johanna Storm with a glossy ibis with two broken legs. Pins have been put in such a way that all the weight of the bird is transferred to the pins, outside the body, and the fractured region is safe and secure. As the bird will be able to walk as soon as it comes round from the anaesthetic, it will be able to behave normally while the fractures are in the right position to heal normally.
