Autumn Electric Fence Care:

September weather can be unpredicatable with hot, sunny days and often the first storms of the season. We recommend checking them over regularly for signs of wear or damage, but now is a good time to begin preparing for the wilder weather ahead.

Check your energiser and battery terminals for rust, crocodile clips too, and ensure you have no cracked ring insulators. Look out for worn sections of tape and frayed or damaged polywire as well as foliage or debris touching the fence. Ensure all lines are nice and taut, retying if necessary or using tensioners to do the job. With netting, it's important to keep all but the bottom horizontal wire off the ground to prevent shorting, so check your guy ropes are keeping everything nice and upright and reposition your posts if necessary.

If you use a solar energiser or additional panel to assist your battery, make sure the panel is clean to maximise it's potential as the days grow shorter.
