Cooling Down Periods
This is so important but is overlooked a lot. We can use cooling down periods at the end of a training session as well we during sessions. Training is fun and exciting as we look at lots of different things. Dogs with a lack of impulse control will struggle to calm down and this can lead to them not being able to switch off.

This can then lead to jumping up, biting, barking and other unwanted behaviours. This is where cool down periods can come into play, we can use a duration down/stay or a structured walk. Cool down periods are perfect for teaching dogs to switch off and slow down.

Picked up this old chap running around Guildford this afternoon on my way home from a group walk. Luckily he came over after nearly being hit by a car. Got him to the vets and he did have a chip so has been safely reunited with his owner 🥰

Seriously, what is wrong with people. You should never risk taking your dogs out in this heat let alone leaving them in a car!

A dog owner has been given a stern warning after leaving a dog trapped inside a car in the baking sun.

The poor animal was seized by police officers after it was left in the vehicle

How do people STILL need to be told not to do this
