โ๏ธ HOT WEATHER PET SAFETY REMINDER โ๏ธ
Please share this, let's keep as many pets safe as possible.
Temperatures are set to rise even more over the Bank Holiday weekend, so hereโs your friendly reminder to keep all of our furry, feathered and small companions safe during the heatwave ๐๐พ
This morning our team were up bright and early making sure everyone enjoyed their outdoor time safely before the heat kicked in, and weโve been busy preparing lots of frozen goodies, enrichment activities and cool resting spots ready for later on ๐ซถโ๏ธ
Please remember โ heatstroke can become serious incredibly quickly in animals. Missing one walk, outdoor adventure or play session will never harm them, but overheating can ๐
Whether you have dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds or other small animals, extra care is so important during warmer weather.
โจ TOP HOT WEATHER SAFETY TIPS โจ
๐พ Avoid peak heat hours
Early mornings and later evenings are safest for outdoor exercise and play.
๐พ Keep animals cool
Provide plenty of fresh cool water, shaded areas, cooling mats, frozen treats, damp towels, paddling pools and good airflow indoors.
๐พ Be mindful of hot surfaces
Concrete, pavements, decking and artificial grass can become dangerously hot and burn paws or feet very quickly.
๐พ Never leave animals in vehicles or enclosed spaces
Cars, conservatories, sheds and caravans can become fatal in minutes, even with windows open.
๐พ Keep exercise and play calm
Overexcitement and excessive running in hot weather can quickly lead to overheating. Swap high-energy activities for enrichment games, puzzle feeders, snuffle mats or calm interaction instead.
๐พ Check outdoor enclosures and gardens
Make sure fencing, hutches, runs and enclosures are secure and shaded before allowing outdoor access.
๐พ Donโt forget smaller pets and indoor animals
Rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and cats can all struggle in high temperatures too โ especially if airflow is poor or thereโs little shade available.
