Come and see what trev got up to during half term this week
“Life of Trevor”
It had been a very busy Whitweek half term at the little pet shop, Moneysavers Pet Centre. From the moment the shutters rolled up each morning, children poured through the door excited to see the animals. Sticky fingers pointed at the fish tanks, little faces pressed against the rabbit pens, and every five minutes someone shouted, “Mum! Can we get a hamster?”
Right in the middle of it all stood Trevor the bulldog, proudly wearing his green work apron and name badge. Trevor took his job very seriously. He greeted every customer with a waggy tail and a cheerful paw wave, even when the shop became packed with noisy families escaping the hot sunshine outside.
The heat had been the biggest challenge all week. The shop felt warmer than a toasted dog biscuit by lunchtime, and keeping the pets cool became Trevor’s number one mission. Before the customers arrived each morning, he waddled around the shop checking everyone was comfortable.
The rabbits got frozen carrot treats.
The guinea pigs had cool marble tiles to lie on.
The parrots enjoyed gentle sprays of water that made them squawk happily.
Even the goldfish got extra attention, with Trevor carefully checking the tank temperatures every hour.
“Pets first,” Trevor always said proudly.
By Wednesday, the shop was busier than ever. Shelves of dog food were disappearing fast, and the air buzzed with chatter, squeaky toys, and the hum of little fans trying their best to cool the store down. Trevor worked nonstop, carrying treats, helping customers, and occasionally sneaking behind the counter for a quick drink of icy water.
One afternoon, a little boy looked worried as he stared at the sleepy shop hamster.
“Is he okay?” he asked quietly.
Trevor gave a reassuring woof and showed him the tiny cooling mat inside the cage.
“He’s just keeping cool in the heat,” said the shop manager with a smile. “Trevor’s been making sure all the animals are comfortable.”
The little boy grinned. “Trevor’s the best pet shop dog ever.”
Trevor puffed out his chest proudly.
By the end of half term, everyone was exhausted — especially Trevor. The shelves needed restocking, the toy aisle looked like a tornado had hit it, and Trevor’s paws were aching from so much running around.
But as he sat by the counter at closing time, watching the last golden rays of sunshine shine through the window, Trevor felt happy.
The pets were safe.
The customers were smiling.
And Moneysavers Pet Centre had survived another busy half term.
Trevor let out one final sleepy woof, curled into his bed beside the dog treats, and dreamed of one thing only…
A giant bowl of ice cream-shaped dog biscuits.
