Thank you very much Peter and Pauline Strawson for such a lovely time on Tuesday as we celebrated Pauline's 75th anniversary of the day she had her very first ride. I have heard on the grapevine that her Mother was really hoping it would be her last as well but things obviously went the other way for Mrs. Conway and Pauline is still in the horse world to this day.
The stars of the show arrived in a car and trailer and my niece Jenny had prepared the yard with seating and tables and the lovely girls on the yard had prepared the indoor school.
Snowball Waddie Elaine Pat Ann Molly Jill Judith came to join in and Laurie lent her beautiful grey Blue for Pauline to ride . I was so pleased to see Pauline up there and even cantering it was amazing after her being so poorly to do it so easily and properly .Do you know the only instruction i dared to give her was half halts to steady up when he heard another horse clip clop past.
Peter was a treasure as the only male on the horizon he looked after all us ladies and he was the perfect gentleman .He can come and host a party for me anytime . Pauline was only a little short of puff when she dismounted and that was the hardest part getting the leg over the cantle when you are not 100% fit but she did good
I was very sorry when the time came for all to go my only wish is that they all keep in touch . Di couldn't make it as Widget was off colour and she was waiting for the vet but her news was quite promising so early days i will keep fingers crossed.
Peter thinks it would be a good idea to repeat the celebration next year it will make us all try to stay mobile he he ha ha laugh out loud and as i told them we have Ian's birthday coming up this year and Pauline babysat for me and learnt the amazing skill of nappy changing on him .which stood her in good stead when she had her own children ,Ian will say MOTHER if he reads that .all for now goodnight xx

March 17th 2026 is a very important date 0n our calendar as we get ready to celebrate Pauline Strawson's seventy fifth anniversary .
75 years ago Mrs Conway Pauline's mother arrived at Weelsby with her four year old daughter Jean sadly did not start children until they were 7yr old so there was a very unhappy child in the yard. i was home from school and i arrived on my cycle at the yard when this was happening and .i asked Jean if i could take her for 20m on one of the ponies The answer was yes and that's how Pauline started her life long career with horses .I continued to teach her until Jean took her into the main rides.
Her first pony we bred at Weelsby Golden Gail out of Tarbrush and she went on to breed the beautiful palominos who won Supremes and top awards all over the country
Pauline would love any one who was in the yard with her from 1955 onward to the sixties to join her for a toast at Weelsby in the indoor school at 12 o'clock. Di Brown is in the loop and Pauline mentioned Elaine nee Pawson and what about you Binnie also Waddy .oddly enough i got a letter out of the blue from Marcia that was a real blast from the past as i was a stable girl with her,
Pauline also asked about you Ann as you bought Caramel off her Ring me if you like mobile no 07903508274

March 17th 12 noon indoor school weelsby
i am so pleased i am still here to celebrate it with Pauline #########

Hello all I thought i would write a few words to you who still read my meanderings as my son would say .and let you know i am still here to annoy all.
How everyone has managed to carry on in this awful weather we are having is a credit to them We all need duck feet to get around.
I had a letter in Jan out of the blue from a lady i worked with in the fifties a long time ago ,called Marcia Wilkinson nee Boyle .What a lovely surprise We used to pedal to work together i lived in Queens Parade then and she lived off Taylors Ave .Very hazardous journey sometimes in the winter when it was frosty or we had snow but she remembered riding Brownie and my Bimbo /I am hoping to see her if she comes to Cleethorpes this year.
Di Brown also had a long chat with me about Widget .Do you realise he is 30 now .What a wonderful job the Widget gang have done with him i am so pleased they adopted him. Di is taking him to Rainbow to see the dentist as he is having trouble with his few remaining teeth so i am fingers crossed all goes well.
Many moons ago Jeanette took Feli to retire at their farm at
Laceby and she had no teeth either she managed to lose them all as she got older and Jeanette used to adjust her winter food .She thrived for years .Thinking back to our ponies Brownie retired to my friends farm at Laughton and she kept Ann's family amused by trotting and cantering circles on both reins every teatime without fail .i suppose she was reliving her gymkhana days, Another favourite of Jean's was her Just William who unfortunately went blind .Raymond Fenwick found out and asked Jean if he could have him to look after his young stock when weaned and he loved it and had many happy years at Beelsby being a nanny .I can only hope the others i let go are happy.
It is lovely to see Ian on his rare visits home .I am so proud of my family For Ian to be the wonderful coach he is and how dedicated he is to the riders Amy and Holly are both working very hard to catch up with their Dad and they make a real force to be reckoned with .So i am here amazed at their achievements and so pleased i am able to see it happening
Mel has just popped in to heat up her lunch so i will stop now love g ###xx

Hello all A happy new year to everyone and i hope you have been better in health over this Xmas and New Year than i .
Cannot shift my cold i think i should go back to having a good gin and tonic medicine i have not had spirits now for over two years and i really wonder if i am missing out.
I received some beautiful presents thank you so much and i had a wonderful Xmas day at Amy's and James. Amelia was on fine form and Ian and the boys cooked a lovely dinner.
Sophie Minto called in ,very good catch up. I am very lucky to have my home at the stables because i see people .Staff ,owners ,family friends, all visitors and many animals so i do not get lonely .I feel very sorry for those who do not see friends etc for days on end.
The girls are very busy now as they have young horses to get ready for this year I have a couple for them to sell and i am following one of Emma's called Rhubarb who can be a little jolly at times and i am hoping good things happen with it.
Amelia has been to her first Pony Rally and giggled and smiled all the time Whisper was very good and Amy ran very well She is very fit.
More to follow Cheers xx

Must say thank you for all the tips you have given me and all the best wishes and greetings have really set me up and stopped me moaning .I have decided to try and only be positive .I USED TO TELL YOU ALL WHEN I WAS TEACHING THERE IS NO SUCH WORD AS CANNOT so i must listen to myself.
Talking about teaching i was asked the other day if i had any difficult pupils .I honestly had to laugh because i loved all the people i taught .Some took longer than others to reach the standard i was aiming for but we got there .The fun and games we all had will stay with me always .I bet most of you can recall funny incidents during one of your lessons i Loved Thursday 4 o'clock when that lovely lady Mabel helped me with the little ones and we played Good Cop Bad Cop, I gave them instruction and she explained where they got it wrong when they finished the movement and sent them off again for me correctly the second go. The laughter and sheer joy on Games day when we were camping i will have to recall some of the antics another day Thank You for such Happy Memories

I have just eaten my tea A plate of beef stew cooked to perfection by my son Ian .He is a very good cook and always leaves me meals in the freezer when he has had a few days at home Therapeutic is the word for his cooking sprees he loves it and more important they are well worth eating
Today i was woken up by the most awful bout of Cramp in my bad leg .It took a while to go away so i was a very grumpy soul when Jenny came up with a cup of tea. She was very good ignoring me and leaving me alone to get over it ..Later i got myself ready to go with her to Pennels to meet up with Katherine and her mum Shirley Kaye. What a super reunion . I first met Shirley at St James Tennis Club when Allan introduced me there I also met her lovely late husband Brian. Later she rode at Weelsby as did her two daughters .I can remember doing the rounds of Pony Club with the two girls and Ian Great fun .Then in 86 i was asked about the RDA starting with us by Sylvia West and Gladys Nuttall and i said yes and they started the next year They managed to get Shirley involved and the rest was history as Shirley got the job of running it and very successfully as it turned out. I do hope it is still doing well now it is run elsewhere and Shirley retired.
I also want to take this chance to wish all of you who actually read my blogs a Very Merry Xmas and a Happy and Healthy 2026 i must close now as cramp has set in my hands I really am feeling my age specially in my bones God forbid it reaches my brain 🤣🤣😂

well November has gone by like a flash of lightning and the general panic of December has started. I enjoyed a lovely lunch date with my depleted but happy gang who rode with me on the Sunday 11o'clock . Di Brown also comes on it but as an honorary member because she is one of the lovely people who look after Widget.
This said pony is now the grand old age of 27 but usually can act like a young teenager and i now am under the impression thinks he is a 4 year old again. I am going now by the stories i am told of his antics He looks very well and i think he gets rather spoilt. Thank you to all his keepers you do a wonderful job.
Amy and Jenny have taken a box load of horses down to Carl Hester's yard for a couple of days and i can imagine he will be a bit low after the awful blow of losing his two most famous horses .They were beautiful talented animals and i feel so humble to know Amy has had the joy and honour of riding them.
I am now trying to write my Xmas cards .Sadly depleted in number each year and arthritis in my wrists and fingers make it hard for me to hold a pen so i cannot set to and write them all in one session i have to take days. I can bash away at these keys for quite a while but double vision makes me hit a lot of wrong keys and then eventually i get cramp in my hands ,Do you all think that i am gradually falling to pieces, If only i could down a good stiff gin and tonic but i am not allowed booze .AH WELL i will just try to carry on God Bless You ######

A lovely sunny Sunday and i have just had a cuppa with Mel as she has her lightning fast lunch i think Soup was on her menu today .It is so nice to have her back on the yard as i can catch up with news of the other girls with whom she keeps in touch and i know when she is here she keeps an eye on me which i really appreciate.
Steffi and Eliza went competing yesterday first outing for Eliza's youngster and first outing for Steffi since she came here and jenny took them and they came home with 3 firsts and a second .I am so pleased with them both and look forward to their future efforts. I
take great interest in them both but we keep the reason very secret.
Amy and Holly have also had outings and Amy ended her competitions for this year with very good results and Viv was brilliant. Holly as versatile as ever show jumped one day [good results] and dressage the next day and shared a very successful day with Amy. I am so proud of my two Grandchildren they are so talented and yet so unassuming about it .I often wonder where they get their drive from I know how Jean instilled into me to strive at all times to do my best it's like she still pushes them and Ian.
What a super time they all had here for Halloween Amy hosted a party with James and they all dressed up i had a parade of weird and wonderful figures so clever even Amelia had a costume i was not quite up to going but i had a share in the fun which was great.
It will soon be Nov 5th i am sorry but i so dislike it .It scares the horses so much The bangers are so loud now they almost shake even these thick walls and the poor cats and dogs .Still many get enjoyment from them and i may even watch on the tele if they show any .Enjoy yourselves if you are having a bonfire party .Keep save g xx

I am sending a rather belated hug and kiss to my new official sister in law. I was so pleased to get the telephone call from you David as it also gave me the chance to wish you a very Happy Birthday. I think Ian will try and pay you a visit before Xmas it will enable him to introduce Fran to you .She is a very lovely young lady very warm and kind in nature You will both like her very much Have not messaged you sooner as i have been so poorly but on the way to annoying everyone again now .Love to you both Glenys ###🥰🥰🥰

Third try to write a short missive the others went into cyber space for no apparent reason .I am slowly recovering from my drama of the last three weeks and i can now breathe a lot better .Jenny and co have a theory that if i didn't talk so much i would get my breathing better quicker she has been backed up by the nurses so i had better try shutting up a bit. It may prove a little difficult but i promise you all i will try.
Last week i had to visit the dentist Good result all ok .Then a visit Sat to see Fiona with my feet .She can work magic that young lady can ,I got some wonderful things to put in my shoes which work wonders so feel better about them now .
Today Jenny took me to a place on the Nunsthorpe estate to see some phiso.people Jo and Gary and another very nice young lady They ask me lots of questions and put me through some tests and then offered me a course with them to help me get a bit better ,I JUMPED AT THE CHANCE. A few years ago i went to Hope St to get help and this is a branch of Hope St What a lovely apt name for a place which helps one.
The girls are getting all loaded up ready for Aintree they leave Wednesday Jenny has one and Amy four to go .they had a very good trip To see Carl at the weekend he does help Amy so much and hopefully all works well this week .
Hope i've not bored you too much but i am so pleased with myself for actually coming through the past few weeks .Rock on xmas🥰😍😘😀😀

Thank you very much for all your good wishes they must have worked because i feel much better . I am still very short of puff but i have exercises to help. My worst problem is my eye sight which is suffering quite a lot and i have an appointment with the eye people in a fortnight so i am hoping for help with them. I am still insisting on doing my jig saw puzzles but i am finding it difficult.
Well Amelia is now three years old .Time has flown and she is the most entertaining young lady to be with .Just like me she tries to boss people about but she is a joy to be with and very good company if you have the energy to keep up with her .
Jenny and Amy are both competing this weekend Amy with a few babies who need points and Jenny with FE fe who won a class yesterday so a good start. Next week Alexis has a para competition it is a few days do so i am praying for the weather to improve.
More soon xxcxxc
