Rase Veterinary Nursing College is now accepting applications for the Level 2 Diploma in Veterinary Care and Animal Welfare Apprenticeship, commencing November 2026.

This 12-month apprenticeship programme, followed by an End-Point Assessment (EPA), provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to begin a career in the veterinary and animal care sector.

Course highlights

▪️One day at college every fortnight
▪️ Independent study during alternate weeks
▪️Practical training completed within the workplace

Develop knowledge and skills in:

▪️Animal health and welfare
▪️Patient care and handling
▪️Client communication
▪️Biology
▪️Medical and surgical nursing support
▪️Laboratory and diagnostic procedures
▪️Infection prevention and control
▪️Professional behaviours and legislation

Apprenticeship requirements

Applicants must secure their own employment or placement in a suitable animal care establishment before starting the programme.

Learners must work a minimum of 16 hours per week in an appropriate setting, which may include:

▪️Veterinary practices
▪️Boarding kennels or catteries
▪️Equine yards or stables
▪️Animal rescue or welfare organisations
▪️Other suitable animal care establishments

Job title: Veterinary Receptionist

Location: Rase Veterinary Centre, Grimsby

Hours: Part time - 22 and 16.5 hrs weekly (5pm - 10.30pm)
Shifts: 2 week rolling rota
Pay: Permanent, meets national minimum wage

Rase Vets is the largest independent Veterinary Centre in the area and is expanding rapidly. We currently are looking for an enthusiastic motivated receptionist to join our growing enterprise!

We pride ourselves in offering a personal, friendly and professional service.
Our receptionists are the face of our practice and the first point of contact for all our clients; with so much responsibility some key attributes are required:

• Friendly approachable manner
• Patient nature
• Strong communication skills
• Computer literacy
• Methodical and organised

The role:

Our reception team are required to work cohesively together, ensuring clear and concise communication between clients, clinical staff, branches and outside agencies, meaning that our clients and patients receive the highest quality of service and care possible.

The list of duties our receptionists perform include:

• Answering phone calls promptly
• Book routine and emergency appointments
• “Triaging” cases over the phone
• Taking messages and communicating them to the wider team
• Organising diaries
• Customer service
• Cleaning and maintaining hygiene
• Taking payments
• Preparing and dispensing medications for clients
• Updating client records (ensuring personal details are recorded correctly and updated)
• Maintaining client confidentiality as per GDPR regulations
• Take clear and concise notes for clinical histories
• Stock rotation and ordering
• Assisting consult vet

No formal qualifications necessary as full training will be given.

Sadly, we’ve had a deceased cat brought into us by a member of public. Found on Sutcliffe Avenue.

The cat is an entire male Tabby cat with no microchip.

Now we're experiencing exceptionally hot weather it's essential to keep our dogs safe in the sun! Every year, vets treat hundreds of cases of heat stroke in dogs, and unfortunately, some of these cases end tragically.

The main symptoms of heatstroke in dogs are:
-Faster breathing & excessive, heavy panting
-Drooling/foaming
-Discoloured gums
-Weakness/confusion
-Vomiting & Diarrhoea

Owner found

Dog found by member of the public on peterson drive, new waltham, she is a cavachon, is microchipped but unable to get hold of owner. She is safe with the finder who has also posted it on facebook if anyone is missing one. Please call us and we can arrange collection with the finder.

Matter of urgency:
Cat found on catergate, near to Velk's go local convince store down an alley.
He is male, entire, no microchip, black and white, white nose and four white socks. Is very poorly we need to trace the owners.

Entire male cat brought into our practice, unfortunately deceased. Has no microchip, mainly white in colour with a tabby pattern on its back and tail, found on scartho road close to the petrol station. Any information is greatly appreciated to find his owner.
