The green woodpecker is the largest of three species of woodpeckers in Britain! 💚

If you spot one, it is likely to be digging around for its favourite snack... ANTS! It eats both adults and their eggs, catching them with an exceptionally long and sticky tongue. 🐜

Anyone else digging the red mullet?

Did you know..? 🤔

Mistle thrushes are named after mistletoe!

These birds get their name because they love to eat mistletoe berries. They're one of the few species that can actually eat the toxic berries without getting sick!

However, mistle thrushes have a bold personality. Mistle thrushes are known for being quite aggressive. They’ll defend their territory fiercely, even attacking larger birds if they get too close.

According to Greek legend, a wren became the king of birds by hiding on an eagle's back, and succeeding in flying higher in the sky than the eagle? 👑

And the Wren doesn’t stop there. According to ancient tradition and folklore, Wren hunts, which took place back in Christmas and Epiphany, were once an annual ritual in rural Britain and Northern Europe! ⚔️🚩
