Good morning all I hope you had a lovely long bank holiday weekend?

Now for some not so good news 😞 after surgery on my back in Jan recovery is going well but I have had a lot of time to think and realise I have a new norm with my back and what I’m able to do and not do,so for the foreseeable future maybe permanently I will not be returning to general grooming this is not an easy decision (after 26 years of being a general dog groomer) but one I have made for myself and feel it’s the right time.

I do aim to in next month to resume some very limited hours for handstripping Border Terriers only (mainly because no groomers close by do this or do it well 🤨 ) and as you know I have my own passion for borders having,bred,shown and judged these at a high level.

I will miss all of my lovely dogs I have come to know so well and glad I have been able to start their grooming process off so well or taken up on some difficult dog grooms due to bad experience’s elsewhere grooming is not an easy job some groomers just naturally get it some just don’t I’m afraid.

I will not be closing my page down so you can still contact me and I will always be hear to talk to you about potential new groomers or what I have done with your dogs for new future groomers to continue your dogs grooming needs.

I’m not definitely saying this is the complete end of Gemma’s Grooming Room just for a longer period of time that’s needed for myself 🥹

I still have no planned date to return to work currently working on my strength & fitness.

I see a lot of you have taken dogs elsewhere for grooming this is so important not to wait on myself to return back.

**I am now in touch with a few good groomers I can recommend for your dogs grooming needs**

Just a quick message to let you know I still have no return date back to work my recovery is most important at this stage and under physio/consultant advice @ 8 weeks post surgery it’s not advisable to return to work as yet.

I am giving you this warning to say if you are holding out for my return for your dogs next groom it’s probably the safest now to look for another groomer to complete this groom,even when I do return it will be on a drastically reduced hours as I just would not be able to return as I left end of Jan.

If you would like me to send pictures of your dogs grooms so you can show another groomer what your dogs have been groomed like I’m very happy to do this in hope the trim can be as close to what you are used to.
But in no way will it be exact so pls don’t message me saying this or tell the other groomer it’s not what your used too.

I know a lot have been asking so here’s a little snap shot of my new metal wear inside me and obviously understand why my recovery is taking longer.

Good morning everyone

Just popped on to say hi hope all of your doggies are doing ok?

Quick update a month post major spinal surgery 🫣

I’m doing ok everything healing well and seems to be heading in right direction the whole process has knock me massively even I am taken aback how little I was not able to do and still not able to do!

The main thing is I am listening to the Dr’s and my physio and not trying to do more than I should be to aid my recovery which is still looking a fair way ahead 😞

Thanks again for do many of your well wishes,cards,flowers and drops ins has been very lovely to know you have been thinking of me 😊

Please just a quick message that any upcoming appointments I currently have in my diary for your dogs will now be postponed until a future date but at this point in time I cannot give anyone a date. Recovery is estimated 3 to 4 months.

Hi All

Just popped on to give you all a little update now I’m coming up for 7 days post surgery I’m doing ok its been a tough week pain wise but so glad to be back home recovering I am being super good and doing exactly as I am told (I know it’s hard to believe 🫢) thank you so much to you all for the well wishes on here and on text it’s so nice of you all to think of me it’s really appreciated 🥰

Again I will not be offended if you have looked into and maybe booked in to go to another groomer while I’m off,your dogs comfort is more important 😉

Well it’s been a super busy week back…..
I really am doing my best to sort as many dogs out as I can before I’m off but realistically I just can’t fit you all in 😔 my diary was already pre booked before I found out about my operation date.

As I have said if you would like to try and book in with another groomer I will not be offended at all but hope once I’m back you may return.

I can give you some recommended names of groomers but bear in mind you might have to wait for apps as they will be booked up already.

I’m in again tomorrow (yes I know it’s a Sunday but I just feel so bad letting anyone down!) but I won’t reply to any messages tomorrow I will leave that till Monday.
