Who has a small garden?
Who has a 'reactive' dog?
Can't walk your dog in the local area?
Can't afford a secure field more than once a week/month?
Can only walk your dog at unsociable times?
Is your dog on reduced exercise for medical reasons?
Is your dog a senior dog who cant walk far?

*so many more examples ^

Sniffing 👃
Finding 🧠

10 minutes of sniffing out rewards can go a long way in reducing stress levels and getting that all important balance between physical and mental exercise!

*Adjust angles and heights for your individual dog and mobility

Ball play!
It doesn't matter what you Google you will get allsorts of information, so what is right?

As a Dynamic Dog Practitioner and student of Galen Myotherapy your dogs optimal skeletal health is vital for their wellbeing

I don't agree with repetitive ball chucking. Aside from potentially turning your dog to become so ball obsessed a walk can be a case of 'dog leaps out of car, bounces around in front of you, you throw the ball or worse use a chucker, 5-10 mins of incredibly high arousal and stress on muscles that arent warmed up and then jump back in car' I am using an example that I have seen regularly 😬
I cringe at the unseen minute damage to your dogs muscular-skeletal system each time your dog skids to a halt, turning in mid air and landing awkwardly, sliding at speed often on unstable ground.

Puppies especially as their growth plates haven't closed yet (cartilage slowly being replaced by bone) can be victims of mis information and uneducated opinions. We need to do better by them

There are all sorts of healthy games and controlled training you can do with ball involvement.

Truly pup in video;
This ball is big so no chance of getting stuck in her throat 🙄
Has lots of tags for her to grip and move the ball easily
Guardian with no involvement just supervision

As for any toy watch out for any frustration and over arousal *plus with this ball, check the tags are secure

My surrogate pup Truly 😍

She is now 7mths old and bright as a button.

Her guardian has done everything suggested and if Truly is at all wary of anything gives her time to evaluate and/or removes her.

It has been wonderful to be part of her life right from 1st meet before leaving Mum ❤️

Early morning mooch for little Missy.
She likes to lie down and watch the world go by, which is important information gathering.

There was still dew on the grass in the shade, so rolling was the name of the game!

Home now to chill in the cool 😎

A memory has just popped up on my Instagram.

Aida and her Mum had booked a Confidence Walk with me while they were on holiday in Norfolk (a few years previous.

I took this photo and loved it so much that I used it to promote this service)

Fast forward a few years and I am currently sitting Aida in her home a few counties from me.

I still do offer this service. People find it helps them immensely to have a trained pair of eyes to observe and to advise accordingly 🐕💛

With the Specialist Dog Sitting branch of my business, understanding dogs body language amongst deep knowledge of behaviour is vital. (In my mind!)

I also have gone that extra mile and have immersed myself in canine physiological and anatomy studies.
My Dynamic Dog Practitioner status also ensures that your dogs comfort levels are top of my list.

Also knowledge of different breeds and their traits is always needed.

Aida is a senior Husky cross with decreased mobility and atrophy in some muscles in her hind quarters.

Non slip mats/off cut bits of carpet cover the vinyl floor.
Regular appropriate exercise
Enrichment...both natural and man made.

She still loves a snooze on the sofa, which is fairly low for access.

She is, as are most Huskies economical eaters. If you don't know this, it can be worrying and then pressure is potentially piled on for the dog to eat.

I do still have some availability from July 2026!
Please reach out for a non committal chat ☺️

Demand barking!!

When we have eliminated any needs, such as hunger, toileting, physical/mental exercise, contact, a feeling of safety and restorative sleep, we have to look to the guardians actions.

I am actually on a mini break before starting a Specialist Dog Sitting on Sunday. I am staying with a friend who was a client with her previous dogs 5 years or so ago.

She now has 2 poodle girls who came from a not so brilliant start in life.

The girls are barkers....very much so!
I was asked after a few hours about my thoughts

I explained my observations and how we could go about helping them make a good choice.

All the time either both or just one were barking, they were glancing at their Mum. When the glances weren't getting the required response, they changed position so were staring at her barking.

The barking reduced with pauses in between. We had a couple of displacement behaviours such as scratching.

They then made the great choice of getting back onto the sofa and settling.

It sounds simple, so I must reiterate we were NOT ignoring any emotional or physical needs.

Dogs learn immensely by our routines and actions, so we should always look at our reaction to a dogs behaviour as well.
