I have seen lots of posts recently about dog sitters and dog walkers needed because their regular sitter/walker is unavailable but before you hand your dog’s lead to someone, make sure they’ve got more than just a pocket full of treats and a nice smile.
Insurance – (This applies to walkers/sitters and home boarders) so if your dog decides to re-landscape the neighbour’s garden, you’re covered.
Licence - (Check the council website for a list of licensed dog sitters and home boarders) – proof they’re legit, not just someone who “really loves dogs” after watching a few TikToks.
Think of it like hiring a babysitter – you wouldn’t trust little Jimmy to some bloke from the park with a tennis ball, so why do it with your dog? 🐕
Your dog’s safety (and your peace of mind) is worth the quick ask:
“Are you insured and licensed?”
If they can’t show you… well, that’s your answer. 😉
