Rescue dogs are often some of the easiest dogs to groom, which may seem surprising. Once you know what makes them tick, they're often very relaxed and happy with the grooming process. This may seem odd but some of these dogs have come from truly horrific places, and I think they know that when they are here they are safe and well looked after and that there is nothing to worry about ❤️

✨️🦄💜💗🐩🌈 Sabrina appreciation post because well... just because 🌈🐩💜🦄✨️ but also... a note on brushing.

It took me just 10 minutes to brush and comb her through before her walk. Brushing is just a normal part of her routine and mine. I made a commitment when I acquired a poodle to care and maintain her high maintenance coat. If I wasn't a groomer, though, I probably wouldn't have a poodle. To keep her in anything other than a short all-over style is costly and hard work at home, too. This is why it's difficult as groomers sometimes when we see matted dogs, with coats that are sometimes more difficult than a full poodle coat as there is combinations of different coat types mixed in. The longer and fluffier you want your pooch, the more often they need grooming and brushing at home, minimum every 4 weeks professional grooming and brushing and combing at least 3 times a week at home. The shorter and more practical you want it, you can get away with 6 to 8 weeks and just brush the longest bits like ears and tail once or twice a week at home, mostly after walks. If you bring your very fluffy dog longer than 8 weeks between a groom, the chances are that they will be matted. This means we are left with no option but to shave it short.
