Double Blind Workshop.

We will be taking advantage of the wonderful Avoncroft Buildings Museum for this workshop.

We’ll be exploring our sport version of double blind searches — unconfirmed hides.

These workshops will be aimed at teams already working the higher stages — a chance to progress or test what happens when certainty is taken away, and explore what that might tell us about the next layer of your training.

Progressive searches will be set by myself and Belinda and your searches will be videoed to give you the chance to watch them back afterwards.

**This workshop is designed for teams who already have good clarity around odour and are generally confident in their calls. If you’re currently working through frequent false indications or clearing up the scent picture for your dog - this workshop may be one to come back to once that clarity is more established. 😊**

One of the things I love about scent work is how easy it is to take it out and about with you. An odour takes up next to no room, so even a normal walk can become an opportunity for a little bit of engagement & training

We had a bit of a socialisation walk this morning, through the town and into the park, and came across a very noisy water-pumping machine. Beetle was absolutely fine with the noise — she was far more interested in where all the water was being pumped!

I don’t often get the opportunity to do scent work in genuinely noisy environments. By its nature, scent work training can often be quite a quiet affair, so with beetle looking happy and confident, it seemed a good opportunity.

Odour lobbed while she wasn’t looking and a quick mini search.

It was also a nice chance to look at something else: can she switch into search mode completely out of context?

We’d been walking through town for around 40 minutes. No familiar training environment, no usual set-up and none of the little contextual clues that might normally tell her scent work is about to happen. Just the cue — and the opportunity to see whether she could recognise it, switch on and search.

We’re just awaiting final venue confirmations, but I’m excited to bring these workshops linked to The National Nosework Association’s latest progression stage.

We’ll be exploring our sport version of double blind searches — unconfirmed hides.

These workshops will be aimed at teams already working the higher stages — a chance to progress or test what happens when certainty is taken away, and explore what that might tell us about the next layer of your training.

Searches will be videoed to give you the chance to watch them back afterwards.
