2016…the year where dreams began for me!
12 year old me, my Appaloosa Coco, super cob Apache and unaffiliated leagues!💭

What was little Harriet doing in 2016?

• I had been riding for only 2 years!
• Qualified and jumped at Hickstead’s sunshine tour (We won the next year in 2017🥇)
• max height jumped 1.15/1.20m🎉
• winning Codham 90cm & 1.05m leagues on Coco!
• Maldon’s New Year’s Day hunt!
• Horsemanship awards on super cob Patch at finchingfield and clears in 70/80/90cm!
• Mix of dressage, jump cross and lots of fun!

Common misconception ‘the more of my horses head I can see, the better he is bending!’ 😳

When we’re ‘Bending’ the horse through a circle or a turn, balance and straightness should be our top priority and we should only ever aim to see the outside corner of the horses inside eye!

Your outside hand and leg are a crucial component to any bend to maintain that connection and straightness through the outside shoulder and neck of the horse!
Alignment is in, over-bending is out! ✨✨

Straight doesn't just mean straight...

Just another bit of dressage terminology that can be misinterpreted due to its literal meaning. 😅

Being confident isn’t about once you’re on the horse, it’s about the steps you take before you get on!
Don’t go into the arena without an exercise in mind or a planned route.
Don’t shorten the horse’s stride so you feel safer but the horse feels compromised!
Be clear and be focused!
If you struggle keeping yourself focused, I have lots of tips and tricks to maintain focus and awareness when riding!

Due to my own health limitations recently, my horses are having an unplanned but well deserved break in the field!
Enjoying all the turnout we can get before winter hits❄️
(I’m okay don’t worry, just giving my body a break too!)
This does mean that I have a few more available morning hours for my lovely clients, this is your sign not to waste any more time and get booked in! 🗓️

Confidence building success story!
Confidence is such a fragile feeling but together myself and Clare have built an understanding of why?
What are the triggers? How can we reframe those experiences?
And understand techniques that build a new healthy defence mechanism for the body when met with these feelings!
