Ear plucking is definitely a mixed opinion topic πΎ
Some groomers pluck ears and others choose not to do it at all, which is completely fine. When I did my training I was taught how to safely pluck ears and Iβve also been shown proper technique by a vet since then.
I donβt pluck every dogβs ears or do it at every appointment. Each dog is assessed individually and I only remove hair when needed, based on things like airflow, wax build up and how much hair is present.
For some dogs, excess ear hair can block airflow and allow wax to build up, which can become uncomfortable, itchy and cause infections. In those cases, removing some hair can help keep the ears healthy and comfortable π€
