‼️Light Legged Horse Section Change to Wednesday the 12th of August 2026‼️

After some careful consideration, it has been decided that the LL Horse Section for 2026 will now take place on Wednesday the 12th of August. There have been various discussions regarding this and, in an attempt to make things more amenable and progressive there will be a few changes for the better. We intend to bring back the Working Hunter Qualifiers and, would welcome ideas for the type of classes you would like to see at the show.

** Please note*** The Highland’s, Shetlands and Clydesdales will still be on Thursday the 13th of August. This will also allow for there to be changes to the types of classes that competitors would like to see on that date.

The website for the classes will be updated fairly soon so, any ideas are openly welcomed for both the Wednesday & Thursday.

President’s Thank You 🙏

As we reflect on another fantastic Grantown Show, we were once again blessed with a successful year where the sun shone brightly over Heathfield Park in our own little weather bubble. Remarkably, we managed to avoid all the rain and thunderstorms that were rumbling around us which certainly didn't deter the crowds. While places as close as Nethy saw over 70mm of rain, we missed it all — and still haven’t seen much since!

We welcomed yet another impressive turnout to the showfield, with visitors of all ages coming together to enjoy the day’s events. The livestock rings were alive with the buzz of judging and the energy brought by the ever-popular Cammy from The Sheep Game. It was truly wonderful to see the main ring packed with visitors, families, and friends enjoying the afternoon entertainment and the exhilarating evenings speedshear, which carried on until darkness fell.

Our traditional Friday night Marquee Dance continued to grow in popularity, drawing our biggest crowd yet to see local band Cadence — a brilliant night enjoyed by all.

Of course, none of this happens without an incredible team behind the scenes. The show relies entirely on volunteers, and many individuals give up their entire week to help set up and take down the show. It’s a real team effort, and I’m deeply grateful for their dedication and passion, particularly the support from the local young farmers. It’s been heart-warming to see them step up and get involved over the past few years. The future of the show is undoubtedly in good hands.

To our exhibitors, judges, sponsors, trade stands, volunteers, visitors and everyone inbetween — thank you. Each of you is a vital part of the jigsaw that makes the Grantown Show possible, and your continued support is truly appreciated by everyone at the Strathspey Farmers Club.

As we start planning for next year, we’re already reflecting on what went well and where we can improve. We constantly strive to adapt to changing times while still delivering an agricultural show that our community can be proud of and be involved in. We don’t always get everything right — but we always give it our best shot!

As my two-year presidency comes to a close, I am truly humbled and inspired by the passionate, hard-working people I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside. It’s been an unforgettable experience with many laughs and sleepless nights along the way, I’ll always hold these memories close.

We look forward to welcoming you all back to Grantown Show on Thursday 13th August 2026!

Thank you all 🙏
