Sadly, big, bad Bobby (not really) has had to start wearing a muzzle when training with me.
He's such a lovely, friendly lad, but unfortunately not always with other dogs, and his reactivity is both unpredictable and extreme. Plus, he's not a small dog. I'm trying to challenge his reactive behaviour, desensitise and counter condition him, for his benefit and that of his owners. I always like to tackle issues like this head on, as I believe avoidance is never a satisfactory solution, and that's what he's had for quite some time.
Unfortunately, his 'Fight or Flight' response is stuck very firmly into Fight mode, so when I do prevent him from getting to one of his 'trigger' dogs, he can get very frustrated and lash out at anything or anyone in the way. He's tagged me a couple of times already when he's been in the 'red zone' (nothing serious, thankfully).
Therefore, Bobby regrettably has to go full Bane/Hannibal Lector for my safety. While necessary sometimes, I've never been a big fan of muzzles, mainly because it gives such a negative impression and people tend to avoid the dog, automatically thinking its dangerous, when thats not the case. So, please if you do see us out and about, don't be scared of him, please do come and say hello, because he really is such a lovely, big softy and just adores people (he couldn't eat a whole one though 🤣....that's a joke btw )

☀️🌡With the weather looking a bit warm tomorrow I'll make sure that the dogs don't get too hot.
Water will be available (of course), the usual running around will be kept to a minimum and If the heat becomes excessive or the hounds are looking uncomfortable, I'll cut walks short.
Their welfare is my priority
