🐕🐕Silver/Gold this week training 'stay'🐕🐕

Having this control over your dogs, off lead around other dogs shows the level and quality of training you have done.
These dogs started at foundation level and have gradually progressed throughout the levels.

If you are just starting out in our Foundation class, this is proof that the work you are doing will pay off.
We start you off building up the length of time your dog stays in position. This needs lots of rewards while they stay in place.
We gradually build in distance away from your dog and train through distractions.

This is all trained in a positive, force free way. We ensure our dogs enjoy the exercises they are taught so they want to work for us and learn quicker.

Socialisation this week was about building confidence around unusual objects and learning how to read our dogs when they are uncomfortable or wary of new things.

Angela Pavlovic - Trainee dog trainer
Volunteering with The Academy since May 2023 at both the Gosport and Porchester branches.

It’s been great gaining experience and helping new puppies every 6weeks in how to adapt to life with their new owners.

I am passionate about helping people by giving them the tools to succeed and watching them create great partnerships with their dogs.

I have gained instructing experience having worked with horses as a riding instructor which has helped me adapt easily into dog training world along with training my own dogs along the way.

My current Dog Lyra a staffie, has a heart of gold and a willingness to try anything I ask her.
We've tried most dog disciplines- Agility, hoopers, flyball, showing, obedience, rally, scent work, Kennel club good citizen awards, AMCBT to gold level.
I’ve been involved in dog display teams and love all things dog related having done dog first aid, massage and WEBB - wholebody energy body balance. I’m also a human holistic therapist and sports therapist so I know how the human body works too.

Always happy to help and eager to learn everything I can as I believe there is always more to learn and every encounter is an opportunity to gain more knowledge and experience.

Gemma Perks – Trainee Dog Trainer
Volunteering with us for 18 months

Hi, I’m Gemma! I’ve been volunteering as a trainee dog trainer for the past 18 months, and it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey so far. I’ve always had a passion for dogs and training, and I love being able to support both owners and their dogs in building strong, positive relationships.

At home, I have my own four-legged training partner – Crunchie, a Fox Red Labrador. Together, we’ve achieved Gold level in the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme and AMCBT, and I’m really proud of the bond we’ve built through training.

I’m continuing to learn every day and enjoy being part of a team that’s committed to kind, effective, and reward-based training methods. I’m always happy to chat or help out – just ask!

Gosport Trainee Instructor- Alicia Holland (Lissy)

Im Lissy and I help at 2 branches of The Academy of Modern Canine Behaviour and Training, Gosport and Eastleigh. I run my own Dog Walking and Pet sitting company during the day and love using the skills I learn at training during all my daily walks. Working with lots of different dogs has taught me how to adapt training methods to help each dog individually.
Before becoming a dog walker I volunteered at a dog sanctuary where I gained a huge amount of experience handling and working with rescue dogs many of whom were struggling with behavioural issues.
Although I don't have a dog of my own, you will often hear me talking about Molly, my dads fantastic labradoodle. I have recently started training Molly in scent work and I'm looking forward to continuing our scent work journey together.

Gosport Branch Manager - Juliet Andrews
I am a fully qualified Academy instructor, accredited with The Kennel club(KCAI cd) and APDT(01489) - Association of Pet Dog Trainers. This ensures you are taught with the most up to date, kind and effective methods.

To meet the high standards, I had to pass in-depth theory and practical assessments for both and have to complete a minimum amount of CPD each year. I am constantly updating my knowledge by courses, seminars, webinars, researching, reading etc to ensure our classes can deliver the very best for you and your dogs.

In addition to this my 'day' job is a behaviour consultant which I have also passed numerous courses for. With this knowledge and experience, I can tailor classes to help prevent any behaviour problems that could develop in the future as well being on hand to give advice.

I have two dogs of my own, Ninja a black Lab and Fudge a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who both assist me with behaviour work. I have competed in competitive obedience and Scent work with Ninja. This year we qualified for Crufts Special pre beginners stakes where we competed against other dogs and handlers from all over the country at Crufts.
