🐾 Walpole Park, Cockle Pond & a Photoshoot 🐾

Today's adventure took us around Walpole Park and Cockle Pond, where Apollo, Bandit and Gareth enjoyed a good mix of sniffing, exploring, zooming and socialising with a few canine friends along the way. 🐕

We were also lucky enough to spend some time with the lovely Nirvana from Pics4Paws, who joined us for a photoshoot. 📸
..While we wait for the professional images to be edited, I couldn't resist sharing a few of my own snapshots from the day.

As always, any other dogs we met and walked with have been kept off camera out of respect for their owners' privacy, but it's safe to say everyone had a fantastic time. ❤️

Two hours, plenty of enrichment, lots of social interaction and more than a few zoomies later...
All three dogs are now completely exhausted. 😴

Exactly how we like to end a walk. ❤️

One of my favourite things about small group walks is being able to use the dogs to help teach each other. Dogs often learn far more from their canine friends than they do from us, and it's lovely watching those little lightbulb moments happen in real time. ❤️

Lots of sniffing. Lots of zoomies. Lots of learning. And three very happy dogs by the end of it. 🐾✨

🐾 Three Gentlemen, A Pigeon Army & An Unexpected Disney Princess Moment 🕊️✨

(Safe to say dog sitting wasn't the only species I ended up supervising yesterday!!) ❤️🐾🕊️

SO... I spent my yesterday afternoon & early evening with three very distinguished gentlemen;

Albus, Rufus and Baldrick.

Now, many of you know... Albus takes his self-appointed role as Head of Security VERY seriously. 🐶🐾📣 👀

A lot of older dogs, particularly rescues, can become a little hypervigilant about sudden movement.
As they age; changes in hearing, eyesight or confidence can mean unexpected movement triggers an immediate:

"OI... What's happening?!"
..Which, in Albus's case, translates to: BORK !

Stand up? BORK.
Walk into another room? BORK.
Head towards the back door? Multiple BORKs.
Move a muscle without prior authorisation?... you get the idea... 😅

Thankfully, we quickly found a system that worked... A little whistle & gentle warning before moving was basically my way of saying:

"Human standing up now. Nothing exciting. No burglars. No foxes. No incoming apocalypse."

Giving him that extra second to process what was happening meant his alarm system didn't need to go into full emergency broadcast mode every time I fancied a cup of tea or needed the loo. ❤️

The highlight of the day, however, came when I popped outside for some fresh air and accidentally became a Disney Princess... I WAS NOT PREPARED! But I bloody LOVED it ♡ O M G...

Not one... not two... but apparently an entire pigeon army had decided I was trustworthy. 🕊️👸🏻✨

Two landed directly on my arm and I was absolutely ecstatic... I have genuinely never experienced that before.

A third looked like it was considering joining them before deciding there probably wasn't enough room left on the human perch. 😂

The best part?
The dogs weren't remotely bothered.
In fact, they seem to have an ongoing alliance with the local pigeon population.
The pigeons watch the dogs.
The dogs watch the pigeons.
Everyone appears equally fascinated by one another.

The magic ended when I ventured further into the garden and the whole flock launched themselves into the air, creating what can only be described as a pigeon-powered turbine as they all flapped up onto the roof. 💨😂 That was an experience!

From there they sat on the roof...fence... guttering... neighbouring houses... watching my every move; presumably waiting for me to drop food 🤣 Sorry birdies - not something I came equipped with!

Bloody marvellous time though! 👏
I only hope I get to return sooner rather than later ♡

🚗 Special mention goes to Gareth, who kindly volunteered to drive us home afterwards. His lane discipline needs a little work and he seems to think the accelerator should be permanently floored, but for a first lesson he did surprisingly well. 😜

Apollo & Gareth 🐾

No Bandit today: just Apollo and Gareth out causing chaos together at Stanley Park. 💙

These two absolutely love a good play session and spent plenty of the walk charging about, wrestling, sniffing and generally being best mates.

Today's walk also doubled as a little training opportunity for Gareth's recall. I kept the boys tethered together for the majority of the walk; Apollo has a fantastic natural check-in and return, so by staying connected, Gareth was encouraged to make the same choices too.

Clever boy Apollo was unknowingly helping teach his friend that coming back to the human is always the best option. 🦮

Lots of play, lots of learning, and two very happy dogs by the end of it. 🐾✨
..PS: Definitely sat in dog p**s getting these photos... 💀🐕💦
Unfortunately, I only discovered this after standing up and making the long walk back to the car in light grey joggers looking like I'd completely lost control of my own waterworks... 😳🤦‍♀️

So if you're enjoying these photos, please appreciate the level of commitment (and humiliation) that went into getting them. 📸🤣

Bully Bimbles with Athena 🩵🐾

A gentle wander around Blackbrook Park today with Athena, Apollo and Bandit.

Despite her chunky bully appearance, Athena is very much a lady who prefers a peaceful potter over rough-and-tumble play, so today's walk was all about taking things at her pace. 💕

Bandit, of course, made the most of the extra freedom to zoom, sniff and investigate absolutely everything, while Apollo spent the walk working on his lead manners and learning that not every dog he sees needs to become his new best friend.

We took plenty of sniff breaks, watched the world go by, practised calmly moving on from other dogs, and finished with some focus work, tricks and tasty treats. 🍖

Not every walk needs to be fast-paced and action-packed. Sometimes the best adventures are the slower ones, filled with sniffing, learning and enjoying the world at your own speed. 🐶🌿

There were zoomies. There was mud. There was wrestling. There were faces that no dog should realistically be able to pull. 😂🥴🫨😵‍💫🫪🤪

The best part? Despite all the rough-and-tumble, everyone checked in beautifully, took treats politely and finished the session as happy friends.

Safe to say there will be some very sleepy dogs this afternoon. ❤️🐾

🐾 Mud, Zoomies & Tired Paws 🐾

No dramatic deer chases, unexpected swimming lessons or shopping trips today.

Just Apollo, Gareth and Bandit enjoying a very soggy, muddy stomp around Alver Valley Country Park. 🌿🐕

Gareth brought enough energy for the entire group (and then some). He was absolutely everywhere today — charging about, investigating every scent and generally living life at 100mph. 🚀🐾

Apollo enjoyed practising his manners and recall work, while Bandit was his usual sensible self, happy to mooch along and keep an eye on proceedings. Having sporadic zoomie seshes when the mood hit.

By the end of the hour, even Gareth had finally run out of steam and was looking suitably pleased with himself for a job well done. 😴🐶

Muddy paws. Happy dogs. Tired legs.
Exactly how a good walk should end. ❤️🐾
