Applications are open for our City & Guilds Level 2 and Level 3 Dog Grooming qualifications starting in September – a hands-on route into a rewarding career doing what you love! 📢

Training takes place in our fully equipped dog grooming salons in Huntingdon (Cambridgeshire) or Tingley (near Leeds). You’ll come into college one day per week and learn alongside experienced groomers, gaining confidence through practical training with real dogs from the very start. 🐾✂️

Our former student, Charlie, has shared her experiences as a dog groomer with us for ! 🤩

Charlie's journey into dog grooming started with a love of dogs and a desire to build a hands-on career where she could care for dogs every day. 🐶✂️

Charlie chose to study the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming, travelling regularly from Chesterfield to Leeds to complete her qualification. Since qualifying, Charlie has gone on to set up her own business, Home Hounds Grooming, and become self-employed. She now offers gentle dog grooming in each dog's own home, providing a calm, convenient and personal service. 💜

Charlie said:
"I absolutely love my career. I get to meet so many lovely people and dogs, and it is especially rewarding to help clients who may find it difficult to travel, as well as owners who simply prefer their dog to be groomed at home." 💬

When was your dog's last grooming appointment? 🐶✂️

Regular grooming plays an important role in supporting a dog's wellbeing and comfort. It helps keep coats clean and free from tangles and matting, while routine nail trimming, ear cleaning and skin checks can help identify potential concerns early. Groomers may also spot changes such as skin irritation, parasites or other issues that owners can discuss with their veterinary practice. ✅

For , former student Phoebe is sharing how a work experience placement helped her discover a passion for dog grooming. 🐶✂️

Phoebe's journey into dog grooming began with a lifelong love of animals. After completing work experience in a grooming salon, she developed an interest in grooming and later chose to study the Level 2 Dog Groomer Apprenticeship, where she gained the practical skills and knowledge to build a rewarding career doing what she loves. 🐩💜

Since qualifying, Phoebe has continued to grow in confidence as a groomer and is currently managing the salon where she works while her boss is on maternity leave. Looking ahead, she hopes to compete in grooming competitions and continue developing her skills. 🐾⭐

Phoebe said:
"I fell in love with grooming when I realised how my creative side came out into my work. I absolutely adore being able to create polished looks – and classic pet trims. Every day is a new day and every dog has their own loveable personality." 💬
