Meet Ana, who is currently training to become a dog groomer with us. 👋

We caught up with Ana to hear about her experience on our courses so far, how she’s balancing study with full-time work, and what’s next as she builds her new career... 🐶✂️

"I started with the Level 2 course at the college and absolutely loved it. The support I received from the tutors gave me the confidence to continue to Level 3. Since English is not my first language and I had no grooming experience when I began, I felt nervous – but the staff were incredibly supportive and always took time to explain things clearly. I also received help with flexible study hours and a payment plan, which made it possible for me to balance full-time work, studies, and family life."

"The part of the course I enjoy the most is the practical grooming – from bathing and drying to learning different styling techniques. Working with a variety of breeds has been exciting and rewarding." 💬

Looking for a job where you can work with dogs every day? 🐶

Our Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants could be your first step to a career in dog grooming – with intakes starting throughout the year!

During the course, you'll gain hands-on experience in our fully-equipped salons in Huntingdon or Leeds, where you'll work with experienced tutors and a variety of dogs to build your skills and confidence. ✂️

This course runs for six months, with one day of college attendance each week – offering flexibility for those balancing work, family life, or study. Plus, no previous experience or qualifications are required to apply. ✅

Once qualified, you’ll be ready to work in dog grooming salons, explore self-employment, or continue your training by completing our Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming.

Charlotte Shewry began her dog grooming journey with us by completing our Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants, before progressing onto the Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming. We asked Charlotte to share some of her experiences on the courses:

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time learning at The College of Animal Welfare. I particularly enjoyed the theory lessons which gave me knowledge and understanding of the dog’s anatomy, health and so much more! The practical lessons gave me the confidence to safely handle a range of dogs, complete comprehensive health checks, as well as how to style a range of breeds to the customers’ requests whilst always putting the dog’s welfare first." 🐶
