It is now compulsory for all owned cats in England to be microchipped, making it more likely that lost or stray pet cats are reunited with their owners and returned home safely.

This includes cats that usually only stay indoors.

All keepers must ensure their cat is microchipped before they reach 20 weeks of age and their contact details stored and kept up to date in an approved pet microchipping database.

🚨Time is running out🚨
There is only ONE month left to make sure your cat is microchipped, the government has made it compulsory for all cats to be microchipped by 10th June 2024.
They must be microchipped by 20 weeks of age, this includes indoor cats. The microchip details must be up to date, this is done by getting in contact with the microchip company your pet is registered with!

Meet our Clinical Director.....

Elizabeth qualified from The University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Poland, in 2006. She spent 6 months at the University Surgical Department developing her skills as an intern before moving to the UK and taking a position as a general practitioner in a busy small animal practice in Surrey, where she fell in love with emergency and critical care discipline.

Elizabeth joined Out of Hours services in 2012 and progressed to the Principal Veterinary Surgeon position in 2015, working alongside referral clinicians, before moving to the Head of Out of Hours role in 2017.

She has worked as a Lead Clinical Director at three practices in Surrey from 2021, striving to deliver gold standards of patient care across the sites before recently moving to Waverley Vets.

Elizabeth is a holder of an Advance Practitioner Certificate in Emergency Medicine and Surgery (CertAVP EM&S). Her main interests are soft tissue surgery, trauma, critical patient, and transfusion medicine.

Outside of work Elizabeth enjoys all aspects of fitness, in particular tennis and running, and spending time with her two Maine C**n cats, Sherlock, and Mycroft.

Meet the Team!

Today we meet Melanie, one of our lovely vets. She studied vet med in New Zealand (not Australia) with the intent to be a dairy vet.

Lured to the UK by the Foot and Mouth epidemic of 2001, she has since acquired a house, husband and child, and her dreams of dairy practice have well and truly faded.

Melanie enjoys the nitty gritty of small animal GP life, and when not at work can be found at home, knitting, and being bullied by her cat.

Although we are sad to see Nicola go we wish her all the best in the future and are sure she is going to be keeping herself very busy.
