Owls ….. love them, but they have been well noisy since 4am, so everyone awake at The Haven. Now we have the dawn chorus starting…I feel beyond tired but the birds are singing their little hearts out with so much gusto it really is a beautiful thing. In a broken world there is still so much gorgeous stuff out there to find, explore and appreciate. As for me there is always coffee ☕️ 🙏🥱

A sad day today having to say goodbye to Den. It’s going to take some time to adjust to life without him. He has been my loyal, faithful friend and protector and made an impressive 17 or even 18 trips around the sun. This morning we knew we had to let him go and it was our last act of kindness for him. He passed away quietly at home with us by his side and didn’t suffer. Zazzy who was in the other room with my daycare dogs started them all howling the exact moment his heart stopped. It was like they were saying goodbye. They know far more than we give them credit for. It was a surreal moment for us all … vets included. And the words on my calendar for today.
I have struggled to keep my composure welcoming everyone this morning but I know you will all understand.
We took Den on from the Hereford and Worcester Rescue centre 10 years ago. The first time I saw him I knew he was coming home with me and was greeting by his paws on my shoulder and a big wet kiss on my face. We never looked back. One amazing dog that will be missed greatly. Our love never dies and I believe he will never be far from me. Grateful for so many precious years.
