Boogie 🥰

🥳 Our first Novice and CLEAR cross country! 🥳

Sunday was another step up for Boogie & I at West Wilts, which is by far our closest venue!

We might have wished for a slightly better finishing score but after walking the XC course, I was over the moon that we managed to jump clear with a few time penalties. Boogie was a legend and took everything in his stride. There were a couple of very tricky lines, to very big fences 😂 and he was just epic 👏👏👏

SJ was the biggest track he’s jumped in a competition situation and thanks to a good warm up with Georgie Goss Eventing I feel we jumped a good round. Just 2 poles down, one for each of our mistakes 😆

Dressage was the hardest test he’s ever done and although there were a few mistakes, he felt so rideable and I’m sure we can work together as more of a team in the future!

At the beginning of the year, I honestly didn’t think we would be achieving this so soon. I’m incredibly grateful to pilot such a wonderful horse and thank co owner Pauline Holcombe for supporting us in this journey 😊

Big thank you to Philip Bowles for driving, grooming and pointing out last second that I was planning to enter the WRONG dressage arena 🤣🤣 good job someone was alert!

Boogie 🥰

🎉 What a day yesterday! 🎉

After a rather disappointing, premature end to our last event at Tweseldown 2 weeks ago, we continued with the plan of stepping up a level at Mendip Plains.

Boogie’s first 105 (in prep for his first Novice next weekend!). The Dressage test was the hardest he’s ever done and it’s not his favourite discipline! He gave it his best shot though and listened to me for a 33.3 score which I was pleased with for his first time at this level.

The showjumping track was big and tasty, but he jumped brilliantly. Just a little spook early on cost us a pole as we got in a bit deep to fence 2. The rest of the way clear 🐎

XC was a great course with some technical lines. Some of which I was a little worried about as we’re still working on straightness 🥴 But Boogie was an absolute DUDE, flying round clear inside the time 🥳

Finished in 9th position - delighted with a top 10 finish! Boogie, you are a star ⭐ 🎉

Thanks to LJP Performance and Rehab for coming out to support us, and the treatment on Wednesday which helped me to ride my best!

It was lovely to have Philip Bowles, Maria Tippett, Keira Winstone & Maya with us too.

😎😎 Superstar Boogie was super cool at his first event of the season 😎😎

Double clear in the BE100 at Chard for a top 10 finish on his dressage score 🥳

We’re working on improving the Dressage still, it’s always been his hardest phase. Without the winter training we had initially planned, a 34.8 score was ok for his first run. We did have some 7.5s for his canter work 😂

Showjumping he jumped a fantastic clear, giving the poles plenty of room 🎉 we had a fab jump session with Georgie Goss Eventing this week which really helped.

And Cross Country he was just a dude! An easy clear inside the time 🐎 despite me being a little concerned at the trakehner early on the course. He took all of the combinations on confidently and jumped the step up to rail combo fabulously, where last year he was just lacking a bit of strength behind.

Can’t tell you how proud of him we are ❤️❤️

Boogie 🥰

Since (and including) his very first event at the beginning of 2024 this incredible boy has jumped clear XC at every single event - 80, 90 and 100 level 🎉🎉

No wonder I came out the start box with a smile on my face last weekend! 🙃☺️

Boogie, you are the best team mate I could wish for 💫
