Dirty Dogz

Dirty Dogz One to one dog grooming where the care and welfare of your dogs is always my number one priority I provide lots of breaks, playtime and of course cuddles.

If you are looking for a reliable, caring dog groomer who puts the health and welfare of your dogs first then look no further. Dirty Dogz is owned by me (Emily) when I left school I studied at Hartpury College and I have a distinction in animal management and C&G level 2 in animal care. I went on to do a dog grooming course in Shropshire and was very lucky to be offered a grooming assistant positi

on at the lady and the tramp grooming spa in Gloucester and eventually went on to become a trainee stylist. I left the lady and the tramp to start a family and so this is how Dirty Dogz came about. I work on a one to one basis from my converted garage salon and I pride myself on being a caring and passionate dog groomer. Every dog that walks or runs into my salon is treated as an individual and I will work with their needs and adjust my way of working to make their grooming experience an enjoyable one. I start with bathing your dog using good quality shampoo, a mini facial and conditioner is also applied. They also have a mini massage whilst in the bath to help relax and remove any loose hair. I will then dry your dog and remove any knots, tangles and any remaining loose hair. On your first appointment I would have spent time talking to you and asking lots of questions about your lifestyle and how you would like your dog groomed so I know exactly how to groom them. Whilst grooming I will undertake a thorough health check and will report any issues or problems back to you. I also clean and pluck ears if necessary, trim nails and of course every dog leaves with a spray of fragrance and a little bow. I also offer puppy pampers, baths between grooms, deshed treatments and nails. My aim is to make sure that every dog I groom walks into and out of my salon happy, confident and relax. All my customers and of course their dogs are welcome to come and have a look round and have a chat about your requirements. I can also be contacted by telephone, messenger or email.

This is a great post on the importance of brushing your dogs on a regular basis, what brushes to use and how often.

If you are struggling to find the correct brushes or how to brush your dogs coat correctly please send me a message I will be happy to help.

🐶🐾LET'S TALK ABOUT BRUSHING 🐾🐶
Brushing your dog between grooming appointments is so important for any breed, not just the poodle crosses.

Regular brushing not only prevents matts and tangles, but also promotes healthy skin and coat growth plus helps dogs regulate their body temperature better ✨

No groomer enjoys shaving a matted dog and the only reason they would shave was to avoid major discomfort and pain that would be caused to the dog by trying to work the tangles out of the coat. This can be prevented by regularly brushing your dog at home in between grooming appointments.

All you need to brush your dog at home are two tools - a slicker brush and a comb. (https://www.mutneys.com/shop/mutneys-slicker-brushes/). You can also use an Anti-Tangle Spray to help work through the tangled areas (https://www.mutneys.com/shop/anti-tangle-spray/) 💙

Here we have shared the recommended brushing amount for specific coat types:
🐶 Curly Coats - Everyday
These include Poodle Crosses & Bichon Frise.

🐶 Silky Coats - Everyday (if long) / Twice a Week (if short)
These include Spaniels & Shih-Tzu.

🐶 Double Coats - Twice a Week
These include Golden Retrievers, Collies, Huskies, German Shepherds.

🐶 Wire Haired - Once a Week
These include Border Terriers & Schnauzers

🐶 Smooth Coats - Once a Week
These include Pugs, Frenchies & Labs.

👉 TOP TIP: Have patience. The first time you brush your dog may be hard as the coat will probably be tangled / matted, but don’t worry it gets much easier! Always remember, the more often you brush, the easier it will be next time. Try and get into a routine and think about integrating brushing your dog into your daily life (i.e. whilst you’re waiting for the kettle to boil for example).

Happy brushing! Trust us, your dog will thank you 🙌

Look how much hair was coming out of this handsome boy after his deshed treatment. Zoom grooms are great for getting rid of all that loose hair.

EMMI PET TEETH CLEANING

Did you know keeping your dogs teeth and mouth healthy is just as important as keeping their coat well maintained?
Well the good news is I can offer you both services at the same time. So if your dog is booked in for a groom with me why not talk to me about my emmi pet teeth cleaning service.
The first initial appointment is an hour long so can be added on to your dogs groom ( if there is enough time) or a separate appointment can be made.
After the initial appointment I will talk about whether further cleaning is required or if just a maintenance clean every 3 months is suitable.

New clients who do not come to me for grooming are also welcome but a free consultation is required to meet you and your dog before I agree to an initial consultation.

The costs of the Emmi pet teeth cleaning are

First initial consultation with tooth brush head included is £50.00

Weekly extra cleaning is £20.00

3 monthly top ups is £20.00

The Beginning

I have always loved animals especially dogs and as a child grew up competing in obedience and the show ring with my mums Sussex Spaniels. After finishing school I headed to Hartpury College to study Animal Care and went on to start a degree in Animal Science which unfortunately just wasnt for me. It was then that I decided to look into dog grooming as a career and found a four week course based in Shropshire once I had completed the course with a pass grading I set up in my mums garage practising on friends and families dogs.

Once I had moved into my own house I set up a small salon in a log cabin in my garden and feeling like I needed some more experience came across the lady and the tramp grooming salon and training school in Gloucester. Lets just say they were so impressed with my handling skills with one of my mums dogs I was offered a job as a grooming assistant and eventually trainee stylist and never looked back.

In 2016 I had ID twin boys which made it impossible for me to continue working at the lady and the tramp and I had to make the very difficult decision to give up my dream job. I worked there for over 5 years in total and loved every minute I am so grateful for everything they ever taught me and everyday I learnt something new.

But with my boys now going to playgroup I have the chance to set up on my own and am itching to get started and carry on enjoying a job I am very much passionate about.
