We regret to inform you that, with immediate effect, all sizes of locusts are temporarily out of stock.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve faced ongoing challenges with both the quality and quantity of our locust supply. Though our colony’s health remains robust, two main factors led to this situation:
Consistently poor-quality green feed delivered to us throughout the year,
Recent episodes of pesticide contamination in that feed—further exacerbated by this summer’s unusually dry conditions (the driest on record)—resulting in intermittent pesticide residues, confirmed by agronomists.
We’ve immediately switched to a safer and more reliable feed supplier. Despite this, some of our locust stock was affected last week, prompting this temporary halt. Our proactive pause allows the colony to recover more quickly, and we anticipate that large and extra-large locusts will be fully back in stock by Sunday, August 31st.
Due to impacts on our breeding colony and reduced egg output, small and medium sizes will remain unavailable for the next two to three weeks. We sincerely appreciate your patience as we work to restore full operations.
In the meantime, we do have strong stock of brown and black crickets, dubia roaches, morio worms, and mealworms, and we’re fully committed to helping you with alternative orders.
If you have an order scheduled for despatch today, please check your despatch note:
If locusts are listed as despatched, you should receive them as usual.
If there are no locusts on the note, regrettably, they won’t be included. In that case, please call our office or place a new order online—let us know if you’d like alternative insects, and we’ll do everything possible to fulfil your needs promptly.
We deeply apologise for the inconvenience and greatly value your understanding and continued support.
Thanks, the Peregrine team.
