🐾 Treats After Nurse Clinic.

Albert and Kevin had very waggy tails after their nurse clinic. πŸ’š

Our nurse clinics are an important part of the care we provide at Orchard Vets, helping with routine checks, advice and support for pets throughout the year.

Of course, some patients know exactly where the treats are kept afterwards.

Well done Albert and Kevin. You both look very pleased with yourselves.

🌱 Bubble Wrap Donations Needed.

We are currently looking for spare bubble wrap donations at Orchard Vets. πŸ’š

Our team use bubble wrap to help keep patients warm while they are under general anaesthetic. Reusing it is another small way we can reduce waste within the practice.

If you have any bubble wrap at home that you no longer need, we would be very grateful if you could drop it into the practice.

Thank you for helping us support our patients and our sustainability efforts.

🐾 May Pet Of The Month.

Meet Summer, our May Pet of the Month. πŸ’š

Summer came in to see vet James during an evening surgery after her owner noticed she had a painful eye with a mark on it.

James examined Summer’s eye using a fluorescein stain and found a very deep ulcer on the surface of her eye.

We believe Summer may have been scratched by her sister and unfortunately the scratch had progressed into a deep ulcer rather than healing on its own.

There was a real risk that Summer could lose her eye. The next morning, James performed surgery to place a small amount of specialised tissue from around the eye over the ulcer, helping to protect the area and support healing.

🩺 Summer’s eye has gone on to heal very well. She will be left with some scarring from the ulcer, however she will still be able to see.

Well done Summer, what a brave girl.

🌱 World Environment Day.

Today is World Environment Day, a global day that encourages awareness and action to help protect the environment.

At Orchard Vets, our Sustainability Team have been looking at practical ways to make small changes that support this in everyday practice life. πŸ’š

These include:

🌱 Using recycled toilet paper.
🧻 Using hand towels instead of paper towels.
🌼 Watering our flowers with water barrels.
🐝 Supporting bee friendly garden areas.
πŸ“„ Reusing scrap paper and binders where possible.

The team have also taken part in litter picking in the local community, helping make a difference beyond the practice too.

A big thank you to everyone involved.

🐾 Ron Reporting For Duty.

It is Volunteers’ Week, so we thought it was the perfect time to share one of our most recent helpers. πŸ’š

Ron, our Senior Administrator Caroline’s dog, came to work ready to take his role very seriously during our fire drill.

Volunteers’ Week is also a chance to recognise the people who give their time in so many different ways. At Orchard, our Sustainability Team have taken part in local activities including litter picking in the community, helping make a difference beyond the practice too.

A big thank you to everyone who gives their time to help others in their workplace, local community or behind the scenes.
