I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank all my customers past and present for their support and custom over the years. It really has been a pleasure to have all your fur kids in my life…..in the meantime It’s on to pastures new for me for now. Much love to you all. 🖤🐶🖤

It’s amazing the number of people I’ve seen out walking their dogs in the middle of the day in this heat…you dog won’t die if it doesn’t get out for a walk.

This is Nala.

She is a young fit Labrador who was playing football on a overcast 21⁰c day.

At 1.30pm she was rushed to Hook Vets with heat stroke.

Her temperature was at a whopping 41.3⁰c. A dogs normal temperature range is 38 - 39⁰c

Heat stroke can cause irreversible damage or even death. Thankfully her owner noticed and reacted quickly and Nala is doing well 💜 His quick actions saved her life.

Dogs that are more prone to heat stroke are old dogs, overweight dogs, flat faced breeds and puppies. However any dog of any age or breed or fitness can get heat stroke.

Signs of heat stroke are:
⚠️ Faster, heavier breathing
⚠️ Excessive thirst and drooling
⚠️ Increased heart rate and pulse rate
⚠️ Dark coloured gums/ tounge (red/purple)
⚠️ Glassy eyes
⚠️ Staggering or weakness
⚠️ Seizures
⚠️ Unconsciousness

If you think your dog has heat stroke DO NOT throw cold water on them as this can cause the body to go into shock.

On warm days you can help your dogs by:
✅ Restricting exercise
✅ Make sure they have access to cool, shaded areas
✅ Give them access to fresh water
✅ Walking them first thing in the morning or last thing at night when it's cooler
✅ If your pet is over weight start them on a weight loss journey

This lovely big boy Retired this week 🥹 I’ve walked Cody for 9 years, since he was around 10 months old and every single one of those walks has been an absolute pleasure. He is such a gentle big soul and has many fans or both the human and the furry variety. The sheer joy he found in a big puddle, a massive stick/branch or frolicking through the long grass with his buddies was a sight to behold. I’m going to miss him so, so much but the walks are just a bit too much for him now. Hopefully I’ll still see him now and again but for now it’s a golden paw shake and a thank you for being such a top dog and a star⭐️

Beautiful morning here on the Cowal Peninsula… took advantage of the break in the horrid weather and hit the beach with the very beautiful and well behaved Penny who is staying with us for the week and my own 2 resident hooligans. This job was made for days like these. 😊
