Have you ever been advised to add bone broth to your dogs diet and wondered why?
Well an interesting study has just dropped - and although this isn't a scientific / peer reviewed study, it was conducted by a bone broth manufacturer - it does give an interesting insight into how bone broth can be a beneficial supplement to your dogs diet.
Key findings:
🦠 4 week study that added bone broth to the regular diet of 33 dogs. None of these dogs had bone broth previously.
🦠96.88% experienced an increase in bacterial diversity (diversity is good!)
🦠Most significant increase was seen in dogs who had a balanced / varied diet.
🦠96.97% reduction was seen in the potentially harmful bacteria Helicobacter - this species is associated with digestive discomfort. Raw diets that included fruit & veg experienced the greatest reduction when paired with bone broth.
🦠87.1% of dogs showed reductions in Clostridium Sensu Stricto which is associated with leaky gut and systemic inflammation.
🦠 After supplementing with bone broth for 4 weeks, dogs had a 1562.86% increase in Bifidobacterium which is a beneficial bacteria!
Dr Carol Hugh's Microbiologist said "We have seen remarkable results with bone broth and this is because of the high amino acid count in bone broth, which seems to behave as a prebiotic feeding the good bacteria."
