Helen and Eleanor had an excellent night at the FCN talk kindly hosted by the Hall family at Rogers Hill Farm on Thursday evening.

It was brilliant to see so many faces from across the county and from so many different farming enterprises. We enjoyed hearing from Wessex water about the Poole Harbour project and Helen discussed how sustainable parasite management can be linked to healthier farming ecosystems overall.

Thank you to the Hall family and to FCN.

A huge congratulations to the Hawkstone Farmers’ Choir, winners of Britain’s Got Talent 2026!

Brought together by Jeremy Clarkson, the group has used its platform for something that matters deeply to all of us in agriculture: raising awareness of mental health across farming and the wider rural community. As the choir said on the night - if you’re not OK, speak up. It’s not a taboo subject.

And we have a very special reason to be cheering them on. Choir member Sally-Ann Spence is with us this week, straight from the stage to the field, to host two workshops on her specialist subject: dung beetles.

Congratulations to Sally-Ann and every member of the choir, you’ve done farming proud. 👏

Good Luck to the teams entering the famous tug o war competition, on the Friday evening at the Bath & West Show — especially our Farm Operations Manager, Emma, who's been training hard with her team!

Several teams enter but there is always banter between the cattle and sheep teams. This year the cattle team have published that the tug o war cup hasn't been won by the sheep since 1971.

Hats off to all our farmers for battling through the heat over the last few days. They’ve treated us well with fans, drinks and ice creams, so thank you! Helen finished off the heat wave with some after work family time sheeting up second cut!

What if a blood sample could tell you exactly what to change on farm?

That’s what we’re setting out to explore — and we’re excited to share that at Friars Moor Livestock Health, have been awarded grant funding to make it happen.

Project funding was awarded from Innovate UK, through the ADOPT Grant Competition.

Project title: Unlocking Dairy Potential: Gene Expression & Environmental Management in Practice

Working with / Epiherd, we’ll be combining cutting-edge gene expression analysis with on-farm environmental management to deliver real, practical recommendations for dairy producers.

First samples are away to the lab, and the results and action plans will be coming soon.
