🐎 Level 2 Equine Care student Sarah Mawson is currently completing her 5‑week work placement at Smith Brothers Eventing, based in Gilford.

During her placement, Sarah has been involved in a wide range of day‑to‑day yard duties, including mucking out, feeding, grooming, rug changes, and turning horses in and out — all essential elements of a professional yard routine.

💬Sarah said: “I am really enjoying my placement so far. I am getting the opportunity to experience a busy eventing yard. It has allowed me to build on my practical skills and gain a clearer understanding of working as a groom within the industry.”

🌟 Work placements provide students with a valuable opportunity to develop practical skills while gaining first‑hand experience of the day‑to‑day running of a professional equine yard.

📍 Our team will be at Balmoral Show and are ready to discuss your study options at CAFRE — make sure to come and visit us in the Eikon Centre (EK1), to chat about the next steps in your education🎓
