Today is “National Dog Photography Day” and so as I do most days I take photo’s of our dogs. It’s hard not to take a photo as Merlin, he is often called ‘beautiful’ but hose that meet him and yes, it is possible to get a bad photo of him, but most of the time he’s the perfect model.
If you have taken a photo of your dog today I’d love to see them, post them in the comments below and fill the timelines up with dog photo’s, not all of the the nonsense that is about at the moment.

I have been going through my old business files and having a bit of a tidy up and I found this old video I made years ago, pre-covid.
With everything that has happened over the intervening years, this feels like another life, almost another another person.

How's my macro project going?
"Getting there" I would say. Lots of false starts and a steep learning curve. Lots of bugs, lessons learnt and for those of you who wanted to know, photographing spiders does not help you to overcome arachnophobia. In fact it might just make it worse.....
Anyway here's a fly I found asleep in the bush to show you where I'm at. It's so fascinating, even just trying to identify the insects in the garden is a job in itself.
There's a blog on the website where I will be sharing more in the coming weeks for those who are interested.

A few from today. Typically the weather today wasn't the kind of weather I would normally go out and shoot on, but I wanted to test out my new camera set up in less than ideal conditions, in a not so glamorous location. specifically I wanted to put the camera's tracking system through its paces with a new lens to see what would happen.
Pretty happy with the results so another step forward in building confidence with a new set up.

Merlin wanted to say hello but couldn't be bothered to get up to come and say it himself so he asked me instead.
At first I thought it was laziness, not coming to get a biscuit when I offer him one etc. But actually he's really clever. He's figured out that if he doesn't move I'll take it to him, even go so far as look for him to give him a treat
Any one else feel like they are being controlled by dogs?

From a pile of wood to a bug hotel, this was the the evolution of my project last month. Glad to say the bugs are appearing and it’s attracting wildlife which is what I want. I’m working on a macro photography project at the moment with a new camera system which is exciting.
I’ll have an update about the dog and equine photography very soon as well.

Lots going on in my photography world at the moment. Learning a new camera system is taking its time but slowly I'm getting near results I'm happy with. The most important thing is that I'm enjoying photography again and especially the process of learning and teaching myself again. I can't wait to show you what I have been working on.
This is a shot of two of my fellow photographers taken on Irvine Pier last Tuesday whilst on Irvine Camera Clubs weekly photowalk.
Need to find a funny caption for it so if you have one, please leave it in the comments below.....

Make your house a home with bespoke photographic wall art of your dogs and horses.
Creating memories for you and and your dog or horse, all wrapped up in artwork for your wall that will be a constant reminder of your pet that you will want to treasure for a lifetime. This is all put together in a professional, fun and exciting photographic experience from initial contact to the handing over of completed work.
I can create images that capture the special bond between your pet and yourself that words cannot describe yet to see it in an image, it is instantly recognisable.
I have a keen interest in pets and animals that have been rescued or are awaiting their forever home. These are animals that have often had a particularly difficult relationship with humans and have a story to tell.
I live at home in the Surrey Hills with my partner, our dogs Gemma and Merlin, two rabbits - Honey and Peanut, a varying number of rats, 2 guinea pigs - Cocoa and Basil, some fish and the local wildlife.
All our animals are rescued, even the fish.
The Xperience Awards
Once again I am a finalist in the Xperience Awards 2019 - a National photographic competition between 100 top studios throughout the UK. The competition is judged by professional photographers and consumers, which makes it a little different to other national competitions.
