Meet my new apprentice 🤪 some of you will recognise Jo and may even recognise her first client fun time Freddie! We have been exploring lots of different options for Freddie and I strongly believe in team work! We have discussed him at length as he has a few issues I’ve been trying to manage but for a number of years he’s always had issues with foot balance which has seemed to worsen as years have passed. He now grows noticeably out of balance in 3 weeks which had contributed to his sheared heels. After discussing with the whole team shoes every 3 weeks is impractical, we discussed bar shoes but there is then the financial implication of that and we can revisit at any point. Sometimes keeping it simple is a good approach so shoes have come off and I’ve handed trimming duties over to Jo so she can trim him every week to control the imbalance and I will be checking him when I’m on the yard every 3 weeks love sharing knowledge and trying to find what works best for horses and owners 🙂
