Yes… it’s been a little while since I last posted, but I’ve had the loveliest excuse - this little bundle of pups to look after!

Here are just a few snaps from around 7 weeks ago… they’re much bigger now and starting to head to their forever homes. It’s been such a wonderful couple of months watching them grow, play, and find their little personalities. 💛🐾

It’s been a bit puppy central here lately … but I want to reassure you that your senior dogs are always very much on my mind too.

As dogs get older, grooming can feel a little different for them – and I completely understand that. Some still bounce in full of beans, while others prefer a slower, gentler pace. That’s why every senior dog who comes to The Dog House gets an approach tailored just for them:

💚 Adjustments for comfort – if they have changes in mobility, sight, or hearing, I adapt their groom so they feel safe and settled
💚 Breaks when needed – a little stretch, a sip of water, or simply some extra cuddles can make all the difference
💚 Shorter, more frequent visits – sometimes easier than one long session, keeping things stress-free and manageable

Having senior dogs myself, I know just how important these little tweaks are. 🐾

Puppy School is in session!

We’ve had some gorgeous new little faces join recently – and I’ll be sharing a stunning new pup soon!

Starting grooming early is so important, especially for pups with higher-maintenance coats like doodles and poodle mixes. That’s exactly why I created our Puppy School Diploma.

🐾 For pups aged 3–6 months
🐾 A gentle 4-session introduction to grooming
🐾 Focused on building confidence, not rushing

In the first session, owners stay with their pup while we chat through coat care, their personality, and ways you can support them at home – all while your puppy has a little explore (and probably a biscuit or two 🍪).

From there, we introduce things step by step: handling, bathing, drying, nail trimming, and the grooming equipment – always at their pace.

And to help keep up the good work between visits, each Puppy School family takes home a mini grooming kit to start good habits from day one.

For me, it’s simple – from the moment your dog arrives to the moment they go home, grooming should be completely stress-free. I want every dog to leave happy, relaxed, and looking their best.

I work usually on a 1:1 basis, so your dog gets my full attention in a calm, quiet environment – perfect for shy or nervous dogs, or those who haven’t had the best grooming experience in the past.

Our purpose-built grooming room is crate-free, clean, and comfortable – warm in winter, cool in summer, and gently air diffused with Tisserand essential oils. I use only premium shampoos and conditioners that are free from harsh chemicals, chosen specifically for each dog’s coat and skin. Even our cleaning products are non-toxic, plant-based, vegan, and British-made.

At The Dog House, every detail is designed with your dog’s comfort, safety, and happiness in mind – because they deserve nothing less. 💛

For those of you new here, I wanted to share a little of 'My Story' - for some of you this might be a reminder!

The Dog House officially opened its doors in 1992 – but my love for dogs began long before that.

I’ve lived with dogs since I was ten, and when I got married, our wedding present to ourselves was a Bearded Collie puppy. That little Beardie set me on the path to the career I still adore today.

Over the years, I’ve shown my Beardies with some wonderful wins in the ring – but to me, they’re always family first. I can’t imagine life without a Beardie by my side!

I’m also a trustee for a UK dog rescue charity, and several of our foster dogs have become permanent members of the family.

Grooming isn’t just my job – it’s my passion. Every dog I see is treated like my own, because I know they’re not “just a dog” – they’re a much-loved family member.

We all feel the heat at this time of year - and our dogs are no different. Grooming can actually help them stay more comfortable in summer, but I also make sure their whole visit is as cool and relaxing as possible.

At The Dog House, the grooming room is air-conditioned in summer, so your dog can enjoy their appointment without getting too warm. I also make sure water is always available, we take little breaks if needed, and I work at a pace that keeps them calm and happy.

It’s all about making sure every dog leaves not just looking great, but feeling great too. 💛

Many of you know I show my Bearded Collies – and I’m so proud to share that Chrissy is now a Champion!

She’s five years old, and I’m lucky enough to have both her mum and dad at home too… both Champions themselves! It’s such a special feeling to see this lovely girl follow in their pawsteps.

Super proud of her! 💕
