The baby field vole (that what species we think it is) is doing very well considering it was caught by a cat.
(Most wildlife doesn't survive this)
Its only about 4cm in body in body length, so absolutely tiny....but very active and eating well.

Although we are a "domestic " rodent rescue, occasionally we get asked to take small wildlife. Took in this baby yesterday evening. Currently active and eating well, but does have a poorly eye.
What a cutie.

We've been running Somershire hamster rescue sanctuary for 27 years and have often found that some years we seem to take in predominantly one species during the year.
Some years the largest percentage of hamsters coming in are roborovski's, other years it might be winter whites or hybrids of these....well 2026 is already looking like it's going to be a Syrian year.
Here's 3 of the Syrians that have recently come in to the sanctuary.
