It is very important to keep your breeding cages clean and hygienic.

Unfortunately there is no sun bathing for me today 🤣 but a deep clean for the cages instead.

The easiest way for me is to use the jet power wash on the cages. It gets off all the dust and dirt and leaves them sparkling clean. I then add f10 and spray all over and let that soak in until dry.
2 down, 4 more to go.

Ideally, this should be done after every pairing, which helps from cross contamination and keeps every pair safe and healthy.

This one is a keeper and I've named her Storm 🥰

After a couple of years breeding, this is the closest I have got to producing a black budgie.

I still need to add another colour mutation to add to the mix which is double factor anthracite, but this one is by far the best I have bred.
In all honesty, I actually love the green tint and may just stick to that instead. We shall see what happens.

She's going to stay with me and I have named her Emerald 💚🖤

Look at the size difference between these 2 🥰

Im always getting asked questions about what the difference is from an exhibition budgie compared to a pet type.

This photo is a perfect example. My big George is the exhibition bird on the left, and the bird on the right (no name yet) is a pet type on the right.

Miniature budgies are even smaller again! This is my aim to get them as small as I can for the colour budgerigar classes.

Excuse the dirty perches, i'm half way through a deep clean.

Making memories 🥰

Today's post is a little different. My sister bought some clay to have a go at making a print of her dogs paw. There was some spare clay left over so I thought I'd try it with one of my birds.

My number one boy Jojo had his feet imprinted and it's turned out much better than I expected 😁

These are my best rainbow chicks i have ever bred.
The markings look so clear on the wings, but still room for improvement on the clearwing side.

Not going to lie, it took me a good 2 hours to take photographs of the birds 🤣🤣

We have some birds that have now become available.
Whether it be for pets or for breeding purposes.

The 2 older females are absolutely amazing mothers and have never let me down. Unfortunately they are too big for my flock and I need to move them on.
Also a few youngsters here too.

Please pm us for more info.

I can also refer on to a courier service at buyers expense.

Its amazing how much the colours change under white light.

All 3 are siblings and double blacks 😁

The hard part is choosing which one to keep 🙈 unfortunately i can't keep them all. 😢

I do have another pair that's currently on eggs. I'm looking forward to the outcome of those.

For those who have been following me, I had a chick hatch that wasn't doing too well.
It didn't have the correct feeds from the mother for the chick to start growing properly.

This caused the chick to be very stunted. At 17 days old, it was still a pinky!
I crop fed the bird formula and also water to help hydrate it, plus other supplements.

At first, I thought I was on a losing battle. The chick wouldn't grow. It's siblings were leaving the nest and starting to ween themselves, leaving this one on it's own.

This chick has now reached just over 7 weeks old and thriving! 🥰

It's half the size to its siblings. A proper miniature.

We have named this one D**ky or little D**k for short 💜

Having sick birds break my heart.

This little lady has had a stroke and has lost the use of her back legs and struggling to feed herself.

I have been giving her daily physio and she's now started to clench her feet and stand which is absolutely fantastic.
Unfortunately she's taken another turn for the worse 😢

I'm now beginning to think that there is more going on and I'm not picking up on it.

Vet appointment booked tomorrow for a video consultation at Fife exotic vets.

Fingers crossed we can get to the bottom of this. 💚💛
