Being a dog groomer is one of the most rewarding jobs and i’m blessed to say all of my clients know i will always do what’s best for their dog. They would never frown upon the fact that when their doodle comes out of my salon, they might be a little shorter than they’d hoped.
BUT, i see so many people over social media saying how they would never go back to someone because their dog has been ‘scalped’, even talking about suing which is ✨crazyy✨
What they don’t see though is the relief in a dogs eyes and even how relaxed they become when that tight matting has been removed from their body.
They don’t see the damage that can be caused when leaving it, skin problems, joint problems and even being unable to regulate their own temperature (if matts are wet they take a lot longer to dry out and can make your dog colder for longer).
We might sound like a broken record when we talk about brushing but honestly, this can be one of the best health benefits for your fury family member, and probably the cheapest.
There is no problem in having your dog in a style you choose, but please ask if you ever need any advice on brushing.
Its crazy what can happen in 6 weeks and us groomers can’t fix everything within a two hour slot, we’re good, but we’re not that good!
Anyway, here is beautiful Jasper after his groom. This post is not in any way discrediting the owners, i’m using the pictures as a tool to educate people that a regular grooming schedule and daily brushing is a non negotiable. I managed to keep some of his head and those amazing eyelashes of course!
Remember, hair grows back and if a shave is what is needed then your dog will thank you for it, i promise 🤍
