An easy choice for BOTW: it’s our birthday girl Margot! 🥳

Sussex Spaniels are longer-bodied, lower to the ground, and more heavily b***d than their more commonly known relatives - the Cocker & Springer Spaniels. They have a generally slower working style, and a distinctive golden-liver coloured coat.
By WWII, the Sussex Spaniel population had declined significantly, and it is believed that only five survived the war! However thanks to the dedication of committed breeders and enthusiasts, the breed was preserved, although it remains relatively rare today.

Here we go, the CHEEKY beagle 😍
Beagles are frequently used as detective dogs because of their fantastic sense of smell. They are notorious for being ‘foodies’ which can give them a stubborn side, but generally they are sociable and outgoing, making them a great family dog.
With their 220 million smell receptors (!!), they originally were bred for rabbit hunting. Their white tail tip also allowed hunters to follow them through tall grass.

For this week’s BOTW we have the Vizsla. Otherwise known as ‘velcro dogs’, Vizslas are extremely affectionate and intelligent companions. Though there are a lot of similarities with the Wirehaired kind, smoothies tend to be more lean and athletic due to their gundog work in high-speed tracking. You may have seen one in action, with their famous ‘pointing’ front limb.
Though Bodi and Willow don’t do too much hunting, they most certainly carry a Vizsla’s loving side ❤️

This week we have the very versatile Dachshund!
Originally bred in Germany, Dachshunds were used to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals - their name literally means ‘badger dog’. They are affectionate, playful companions with their distinctive look and a surprisingly brave attitude for their size. We love you Percy, and all our mini Dachs ❤️

This week we have the most majestic Rhodesian Ridgeback 👑
The RR originates from Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) and was bred to hunt - in particular tracking and cornering lions.
They have a distinctive ‘ridge’ of hair on their back that grows in the opposite direction, although it doesn’t serve a purpose!
Ridgebacks are typically high energy, strong and fast… oh, and if you watch our stories, you will know they also get zoomies x1000! (We’re looking at you Cooper)
