No more sight for this sore eye 👀
Lovely Sambo got himself into trouble recently with a penetrating foreign body in his eye!
Despite removal of the object and several extensive treatments by our equine vet Saara, the infection was too advanced.
Sambo then underwent surgery to remove his eye last week, this is called an enucleation. Emma-Louise and Saara performed this on the yard, the surgery went very well and within 2 hours Sambo was happily recovered and eating hay. He is adapting very well to his one eyed world and we wish him all the best with his future! 😜

"One week into our Active October challenge and the team are smashing it! We have covered 170 miles already, well on our way to our target of 500 miles. We have moved by foot, bike, horse and danced our way through! Please support this brilliant charity via our link. Vetlife has many contacts each day from vets, nurses or anyone in our profession in distress and needing help, an empathetic ear and sometimes signposting for professional advice. Vetlife fund this professional mental health support and also can provide finical aid if needed. I myself volunteer for them, so I know first hand how busy and well needed the service is."

We’re getting active for Vetlife!!

Vetlife provides support to members of the UK veterinary community and their families who have emotional, health or financial concerns, whilst seeking ways to prevent such situations in the future.

The veterinary community continues to experience significantly higher levels of depression and su***de than the general population. Vetlife works to ensure that those engaged in the veterinary community are aware of available assistance, and signposts them to sources of help should they, or a colleague, be in need of support.

Donkeys need dentals too 🦷
Lovely Captain Jack 🫏 is an older gentleman who had his routine dental treatment last week under sedation, allowing Emma- Louise to thoroughly assess his whole mouth. He had some very sharp points which were addressed and he now should be feeling much more comfortable and ready for winter.

Get in touch to book your equine (and donkey) dentals now! For routine dentistry we recommend annual assessments.

According to a UK survey, pet obesity has risen sharply over the last decade. Nearly half of dogs and over 40% of cats are now overweight.

Extra weight doesn’t just slow pets down — it can shorten their lives and lead to serious health problems.

✅ Visit your vet for tailored weight checks and advice

✅ Control portions and choose healthy meals

✅ Add more movement with daily walks and play

✅ Track progress with feeding logs or activity charts
