THE PUPPY HUT PACKAGE

Puppies are sensitive, and stress can have a huge impact on their mental and physical health.
Introducing puppies to grooming as soon as possible is most beneficial for them as they have time to adapt to the process and build those positive associations and trust with their groomer. You most certainly should not wait until they are 6 months old. As soon as they are able to socialise outside the home, usually around 12 weeks after vaccinations, puppies should be introduced to professional grooming slowly, positively, calmly and consistently.

Stress weakens the immune system, leading to health issues and emotional challenges. So, imagine your puppy’s first time at a grooming salon:
Bright lights, unfamiliar people, loud dryers, strange smells, restraints, and high grooming tables... it can be overwhelming and beyond their threshold! Now add in a hot bath, strong shampoos, and powerful dryers—things that could make their first experience traumatic rather than positive. Thus, creating a negative association so that the next time they come for their booked groom your puppy is displaying clear signs they are not happy to come in to the salon at drop off. Whining, hiding, shaking, tail tucked in, slamming on the breaks at the door when the lead is handed over and just not displaying typical happy puppy behaviour.

My 5 session program is designed to gently introduce your puppy to the grooming experience in a way that builds trust and confidence.
Through:

* Positive reinforcementďż˝
* Reward-based trainingďż˝
* Enrichment activitiesďż˝

Your puppy will explore the grooming salon at their own pace. They’ll learn to feel comfortable with the sights, sounds, smells and handling involved in grooming. From clippers and gentle baths to dryers and nail trimming—they’ll build positive associations every step of the way and all this with NO RESTRAINTS on the grooming table!
By the end of the program your puppy will be ready for their first proper groom—relaxed, confident, and happy but if they are not quite ready we will continue with shorter sessions until they are. The last thing we want to do is break that all important trust!
Please put your puppy’s welfare first. Take the time to make an informed choice about their grooming journey as your pup will need to be professional groomed for their whole life and will visit the groomers more than any other animal professional. With the right start, grooming can become a calm, enjoyable experience for life where I can guarantee they will arrive at the salon happy to come in and happy to leave when their groom is finished (a lot of the time not wanting to go and turn to come back in! lol)
Because you love your puppy & want what is best for them.

This is what I mean when I talk to you about making POSITIVE ASSOCIATIONS or POSITIVE PAIRING.

This is what I mean when I talk to you about making POSITIVE ASSOCIATIONS or POSITIVE PAIRING.

We’re not paying puppies to behave.
So why do people call it bribery?

Most people were taught that food comes after a dog or puppy does something. We ask for a behaviour, they show it, then we reward it. When food appears early, it looks like the same process, just with an unspoken condition to “behave’.

What’s usually missed is timing. With pairing, nothing is being asked for. No behaviour is required. The food arrives before the puppy has time to worry, show concern, hesitate, or react. That changes how the experience feels, not what the puppy does.
Big difference.

Because behaviour often improves later, it’s easy to assume the food caused the behaviour. In reality, the food changed the emotional meaning of the situation first and then the behaviour followed as a side effect. This is how strong positive associations are formed.

This isn’t bribery. It's pairing.
Pairing can help the nervous system decide what’s safe.

New thing ➡️ good things. Always.
