Me and Mr Jones went to Westmidlands Safari Park for my birthday today and I'm absolutely in love with how they train their Sea Lions with strictly positive reinforcement 🥰

They train the sea lions every single day (even Christmas day), if any of them don't want to work for the food for whatever reason they're never punished and still receive their full meal.
The things that each of their 3 sea lions can do are outstanding and have obviously taken years of dedication and love.

I PROMISE YOU that ANY dog can be trained with positive reinforcement, no harsh tactics needed, just a few minutes every day, dedication from YOU and your dog will succeed 🥳

If a sea lion can do it, what's stopping your dog?

Mr Jones turned to me and said "they're better behaved than our dogs" and it got me thinking"that's true" and it's because I don't commit myself to train our dogs everyday. That's ok by the way, but when you're not seeing results, don't blame the training or the dog, look deeper, it might be uncomfortable but at least it'll be correct 🐾

I saw 20 week old Obi for a training consultation yesterday.

His family wanted some guidance to get on top of his shark attacks (nipping) and we're shocked to hear that puppies need 18-20 hours of sleep a day!

A better sleep schedule along with some brain engaging fun games will get Obi back on track to being a super good boy 🥰

Calm Canines Class!
In this class myself and The Pet Behaviourist - Vanessa Ward teach a small group of 6 dogs and their owners how to be calm around other dogs in a controlled and safe environment, barking in the group is expected 🤭 but as the weeks progress the dogs learn to trust their handlers and the humans learn how to read their dogs body language and manage situations where reactions might happen.

Ok ok so the whole class wasn't this picture perfect because we're working with dogs, sentient beings with feelings and emotions but for week 2 these are epic scenes 🥰

I just saw this posted on Threads and I neeeeeeded to come straight here and say...

A micro Frenchie ?! What even is that?! Unethical
A fluffy Frenchie is also unethical
Jeez some may argue that a regular Frenchie isn't ethical these days!

It makes me so sad that designer breeds are so popular but so poorly bred 🥹😭

Visited the Caerphilly food festival this afternoon and as usual with these events I was sad to see so many stressed dogs in an extremely crowded place however, one dog who wasn't showing any stress and was quite happy being aloof on the sidelines was a beautiful bull mastiff 💓

Remember it's ok to do outside activities that don't involve your dog if they're not going to enjoy that activity!

Of course it works for some dogs, but not the majority 🥹

Ember is a superstar 🤩
She has sailed through loose lead walking and side by side walking. Next week I'll be taking her to the goal destination (the local nature reserve) to practice these skills in "real life" 😀

Ludo joined Scampi at physio today, he was supposed to be just getting used to the journey and the building but he plonked himself down for some fuss too 😁
