RSPCA Fylde Branch

RSPCA Fylde Branch Non profit charity supporting animals. Local charity covering Fylde area of Lancashire. We raise our own funds to assist animals locally.

We are a branch of the RSPCA raising money locally to support our local animal welfare work. We do not have an animal centre but we still often have animals in foster looking for homes, if your interested keep your eye on the page for details! Our branch is run by a committee of locally elected volunteers who are responsible for the management and administration of the branch's affairs.

No dog ever died from missing one walk๐Ÿšจ

If the pavement is too hot for your hand for five seconds, it's definitely too hot for paws. During the heatwave, stick to walks at dusk and dawn to avoid burnt paw pads and heatstroke, and if in doubt, don't go out.

Please share this vital reminder to help protect four (and three!)-legged friends in hot weather.

Pepsi is a little upset ..

His favourite treats have nearly all gone!

We are full to capacity (and even more) and you know what that means? ๐Ÿค”

We are going through an average of 9 boxes of lickylix a day! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

This specific treat is vital to the cats in our care because each tube means somethingโ€ฆ

To each cat it gives them a routine..
A time where each volunteer goes in to each cat with that one treat just for them ๐Ÿฅฐ

A time one on one where they are hand fed, chatted to, cuddled and groomed if they are willing and given the time that they would have if they were in a home of their own.

That little treat helps us build trust, get closer and work with the cats that really have lost trust in the human race ..

Hopefully, Over time bringing out new found confidence and getting them ready for that special home ๐Ÿก โค๏ธ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›

Itโ€™s not just a treat .. itโ€™s a lifeline in rescue ๐Ÿ˜ป And it means the world to them ๐ŸŒ

Can you help us by sending a box for Pepsi and his buddies? ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ˜

Top Tips to Keep Your Cat cool this summer ๐Ÿ˜Žโ˜€๏ธ

Cool water Access:

Place several bowls around your home. You can even drop an ice cube ๐ŸงŠ into their water to encourage drinking.
Keep them hydrated ๐Ÿšฐ you can even add small amounts of water to their wet food to help top up their fluid intake.

Frozen Bottles:

Wrap a frozen water bottle in a towel and place it near their favorite sleeping spot.

Sun Protection:

Keep them indoors during peak sun hours (typically 10 AM to 3 PM), especially if they have white ears or noses, as they are prone to sunburn.
Use pet-safe sunblock if necessary.

Air Circulation:

Keep curtains closed during the day and use fans to keep air moving, but never point a fan directly at your cat.

๐ŸพWe both play extremely important roles in improving the lives of animals and helping those in need find the care, support and loving new homes they need but there are key differences in our charity missions.

๐ŸฉตOne of the main differences is that we're separately registered charities.
For us this means we don't receive national or government funding and we're responsible for raising all of our own funds to fund the vital rehabilitation and rehoming work we do.

๐ŸซถAnother important difference is that only the National RSPCA can process any cruelty reports of welfare concerns by calling their hotline 0300 1234 999.

๐Ÿ˜ŠKnowing the differences means both the National RSPCA and many local RSPCA's across the country can continue to help as many animals in need as possible. If you learned something new, why not share this and help spread the word?

NEUTERING SCHEME.

A lot of our followers will be aware that we offer a neutering scheme for families that are in genuine need of help.

However, Once again we feel we need to re share our very clear guidance with regards to this.

We are a very small, Fully self funded branch of the RSPCA with a small team of volunteers.
We spend lots of our time fundraising all of the funds ourselves and sadly we do not get any assistance from anywhere else.

Our main priority is of course the care of sick and injured animals in our local area.
The neutering scheme is our second priority as we feel it is very important and we are doing our best to help those in need.

Given this information you will understand us when we say:

All funds used must be used appropriately or the scheme will cease to run.

So here it isโ€ฆ The guidance ..

This scheme is for cats only ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›

And it is solely for cats in households in genuine need within our branch area which is :

Fleetwood, Thornton-Cleveleys, Poulton, Lytham, St Anneโ€™s and Ansdell.

We will request proof of address and this is not negotiable.

Recently we have had other charities directing large numbers of people to us and of which a staggering 80% of these referrals last month alone have not met this criteria at all.

We have spent numerous hours dealing with this influx of requests and quite frequently we have received abuse from the disgruntled members of public applying when not eligible.

This is numerous hours we could have spent looking after the animals in our care.

Therefore, We would kindly request that you check the above guidance before signposting them to us.

Each RSPCA Branch covers a different area so please do your research to find the branch covering the area you need.

Many thanks .. team FYLDE ๐Ÿ’™

At the beginning of April RSPCA Fylde Branch under charity number 232246 changed its legal status and became a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO). We became RSPCA Fylde Branch CIO under charity number to 1216074.
The reason for us doing this was twofold. Firstly it provided a reduced risk of personal liability for the Trustees (who are unpaid volunteers) enabling us to expand the Trustee Board.
Secondly it makes it easier for us to administer our operations and work under a new partnership agreement with the National Society.

Nothing else has changed.

We continue to remain committed to improving animal welfare in the area we cover and provide advice and assistance where possible; unfortunately the amount we can do is limited by our resource capacity.
Our operations are dependent on the number of volunteers we have and the funds we raise.

Our volunteers are fantastic and generous with their time and we are truly appreciative of their efforts.
If you are interested in joining us as a volunteer, either to help in the shop, with our animals or with fundraising please donโ€™t hesitate to make contact.
Thank you for your ongoing support.

DUMPED

Yes you read that right ๐Ÿ˜ข

Discarded like rubbish in a carrier locally. ๐Ÿ’”

This poor pair have been totally failed by the people of whom were meant to care for them and keep them safe.
And to make things even worse they have waited until these siblings have procreated and โ€œmaeveโ€ (as named by us) is heavily pregnant.

Yesโ€ฆ again you read that right..
dumped like rubbish with your brother and heavily pregnant.

Who else thinks this is disgraceful?!

There is absolutely no need for this and as a branch sadly we deal with situations like this quite frequently.

We have no space and situations like this push us to breaking point.
We are not a national company with a large centre we are a small self funded branch of the RSPCA doing our very best for animals in your local area.

So next time you think about giving your kittens away for free on Facebook THINK!๐Ÿ’ญ
Is this potentially a situation that those kittens are going to end up in 6-12 months time?

Thinking of getting a cat?

Make sure you have the funds to take care of them.
Taking on a cat is taking on the responsibility of making sure they have the care they need for around 20 years..

Can you afford the vaccinations, flea and worm treatment, ongoing vet bills, Unexpected vet bills, insurance? (just to name a few)

And lastlyโ€ฆ

Be responsible!

Get your cats neutered!

For those in our area (Fleetwood, Thornton-Cleveleys, Poulton, Lytham, St Anneโ€™s and Ansdell) there is no excuseโ€ฆ

We have a neutering scheme available to apply for so please inbox us now!

For any of our lovely followers that would like to send this lovely pair a treat so we can try and gain their trust again we would be very grateful โค๏ธ

Remember ๐Ÿ’ญ

When adopting a cat the 3-3-3 rule applies and with some, especially rescue cats it can take even longer.

Be patient โ˜บ๏ธ Allow them to settle in their own time ๐Ÿฅฐ

Key Aspects of the 3-3-3 Rule:

First 3 Days (Decompression):

The cat is overwhelmed, scared, and stressed. They may hide, not eat, or not use the litter box, which is normal.

Tip: Keep them in one small, quiet room to start.
Somewhere cosy where they have everything they need (wet food, dry food, water, a nice cosy bed, pet calming diffuser and a litter tray)
Make sure the room is secure and the cat canโ€™t hide in hard to reach places.

First 3 Weeks (Adjustment):

The cat starts settling in and learning the household routine. They may venture out, show curiosity, and display their true personality.

Tip: Set up their permanent litter box and food spots; stick to a consistent feeding routine (routine helps)

First 3 Months (Building Trust):

The cat feels secure and truly "home". They have likely built a solid bond with their new family and have fully adjusted to the environment.

Not quite there at the 3 month marker? Like us they are all different and may take a little longer.. look at how far they have progressed so far not where you would like them to beโ€ฆ they will get there in time โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›
