Zelda, the Miniature Zebu, has been with us for just over a year now. Though she's small compared to our male, Ziggy, she has grown a lot!

She's still very cute though and the pair are inseparable! ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ‚

Did you know Black and White Ruffed Lemurs are the largest pollinators in the world?

When thinking of pollinators most people generally imagine insects. In their native Madagascar, Ruffed lemurs have a mutualistic relationship with the traveler's palm. As they consume nectar from the large trumpet shaped flowers pollen sticks to their fur and faces. They then transfer it to other flowers as they move between trees, this benefits both the lemurs for food and the plants for reproduction.

We give our trio of Lemurs a varied diet and offer them flowers as food and scent enrichment.

One of our keepers spotted this amazing Hummingbird Hawk-Moth feeding on a Teasel flower! This just one of 5 different species of hawk moth recorded on site.

The name comes from its similarity to hummingbirds. They use their long proboscis to drink nectar from flowers while hovering - much like their feathered counterparts.

16th July marks World Snake Day! - We currently have 2 species of snake at the park.

Aja, our Reticulated Python has been with us for a year now and has made a BIG impression on the visitors! Reticulated Pythons are the longest of the over 3500 snake species found in the world. Aja is currently 14 feet long but there are reports of the species reaching well over 20 feet, though these are often greatly exaggerated!

Coral, our albino corn snake has been with us for many years and is very popular. Corn snakes are one of the most commonly kept snakes due to their placid nature. At just over 6 feet long Coral is big for her species but not a patch on Aja.

Snakes are often deliberately misrepresented by the media in order to sell stories, however, only few species of snake pose any real threat to humans. They play crucial roles in ecosystems around the world and are amazing at pest control, keeping rat, mice and rabbit populations under control.

Our Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman is still a juvenile and often tucked away under the logs or plants in the enclosure. They often move around throughout the day so its always worth looking again later!

The paddock animals get browse as a supplement to their diets or as an occasional treat. This is usually faster growing plants such as Willow, Bamboo etc. Today we had a small amount of Oak branches that needed pruning and the animals wasted no time devouring them! ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฆ˜๐Ÿฆ™๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ๐ŸŒฑ
