16th July marks World Snake Day! - We currently have 2 species of snake at the park.
Aja, our Reticulated Python has been with us for a year now and has made a BIG impression on the visitors! Reticulated Pythons are the longest of the over 3500 snake species found in the world. Aja is currently 14 feet long but there are reports of the species reaching well over 20 feet, though these are often greatly exaggerated!
Coral, our albino corn snake has been with us for many years and is very popular. Corn snakes are one of the most commonly kept snakes due to their placid nature. At just over 6 feet long Coral is big for her species but not a patch on Aja.
Snakes are often deliberately misrepresented by the media in order to sell stories, however, only few species of snake pose any real threat to humans. They play crucial roles in ecosystems around the world and are amazing at pest control, keeping rat, mice and rabbit populations under control.
