I’m delighted to share that I’ve just renewed my accreditation as a KAD Kids Around Dogs® Professional for another year. This affiliation reflects my ongoing commitment to safe, positive child–dog interactions and relationship-based training. It offers you peace of mind that I meet recognised professional standards, stay up to date with best practice, and structure my classes with both physical and emotional safety at the forefront.

Teaching children how dogs learn - through clear communication, positive reinforcement and understanding body language - builds empathy, responsibility and stronger lifelong bonds. Today’s kids are the next generation of dog owners, and giving them the skills to train kindly and confidently helps create a healthy dog training culture for the future.

I’ll soon be releasing details of my Easter Holidays Kids’ Dog Training Classes - fun, interactive workshops designed to build confidence and connection between kids and their dogs. Keep an eye on this page for more information coming soon! 🐶

Why do instincts matter in dog training?

Every dog is born with a set of natural instincts - whether it’s herding, chasing, searching, retrieving, guarding, or scenting. These drives aren’t a sign of “bad behaviour” - they’re part of what makes your dog who they are.

When we try to suppress or ignore these instincts, dogs often find their own ways to express them - like chasing cars, barking at wildlife, or pulling on the lead. But when we give them safe, structured outlets to use their instincts, something incredible happens: they relax.

A dog who feels understood and fulfilled will be calmer, more confident, and more connected to you.

Remember: Instincts aren’t the enemy. They’re the key to harmony.

Want to learn how to channel your dog’s natural instincts in a positive way?

Book a 1:1 session or join a group class today - your dog will thank you for it!

I'm super excited to be speaking at this awesome event, where I'll be talking (amongst others) about how Treibball can benefit your dog and prevent 'problem' behaviours by channelling their natural instincts into a positive outlet! 🐶

Sunday 9th November at The Hamworthy Club, Magna Road, Bournemouth.

For more information, click through to the Pawseidon Veterinary Rehabilitation & Hydrotherapy Referrals page 😊

🐾 Meet our next guest speaker - Alex Gosney! 🐾

We’re thrilled to welcome Alex Gosney (BSc Hons, IMDT, KAD-AP) from Active Instincts Dog Training Academy to the Canine Impact Live stage! 🎤

With over 25 years of hands-on experience training dogs (and even horses!), Alex brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her work. She specialises in helping owners understand their dogs’ natural instincts and channel that energy into positive, rewarding activities.

At the event, Alex will be diving into four exciting areas of canine training:

🐶 Dorset Barn Hunt – discover how to engage your dog’s natural scenting instincts in a fun and stimulating way.

🏃‍♀️ Dog Parkour Training – build your dog’s confidence, coordination, and body awareness while strengthening your bond.

👧🐕 Kids Around Dogs (KAD) – learn safe, effective ways to help children and dogs live happily and confidently together.

⚽ Treibball – explore this dynamic, team-based sport where dogs use their herding instincts to push large balls into goals, great mental and physical stimulation for all breeds!

Alex is an accredited Barn Hunt instructor, experienced Parkour and Treibball trainer, and a Kids Around Dogs approved professional, so you’re guaranteed expert insights with a practical, compassionate approach.

I've been working with some of the dogs who are currently in the care of Every Paw Matters and they're desperate for more foster homes. Can anybody help? Full support will be given throughout 🐶
