🧡 Ralph - Update

Thank you for the messages regarding Ralph’s heart appointment, it is so humbling to see how many of you have continued to be invested into him over the years.

So……my perfect boy got the all clear for another year. Whilst the Ultra Sound showed some small (minor) changes, the heart has not enlarged (any further), and there is no increase in valve leakage. Therefore, he is classed as ‘stable’.

In addition (as a little double check), I also had blood and urine samples taken from Ralph, and these also came back ‘within normal’ range, so we are good to carry on as we are.

Life is flying by far too quickly with him (he will soon be 9), so for now, we will just keep enjoying every moment and every day.

He is my dog of a lifetime.

🐾 It’s been a while….

I have become utterly useless at keeping this page up to date, as I find myself in the fortunate position of no longer needing to advertise my services.

However, I do try to keep you updated on Ralph (once in a while), and with his third heart scan looming next week, I don’t mind admitting I have that lurking feeling in my tummy.

2 years ago, Ralph was diagnosed with a heart condition and thankfully we have been maintaining/he has maintained his diagnosis since. Now, that might seem an odd thing to say but not only is it positive (as it means it hasn’t deteriorated), it means we are leaving ourselves with scope to explore medication for him (if and when that is an appropriate option).

So, as I turn 41 tomorrow, and Ralph’s 9th birthday is not so far I away, I am trying really hard to enjoy every moment with him and take nothing for granted.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I live and breathe for Ralph and our time is going far too quickly. I wish he was 3 again but I am grateful to have him and will update you on his heart scan next week.

Meanwhile, he couldn’t give two hoots about his pending appointment and is still reminiscing about our glorious forest adventures, having just returned from a 5 day holiday in Thetford Forest.

⭐ 2026 Services

As Ralph and I end another year around the sun (as the cool kids say), the grey hairs keep multiplying (for us both), and my client list seems to never stop (for which I am grateful).

I don’t keep this page up to date anymore, and it’s not because I can’t be bothered it’s because I don’t really have much to say anymore (and we are lucky enough to be busy).

If you know me, you know my style and approach to dog training, and if you know Ralph you will know he is an example of it.

My approach to training is simple:

🐾 Build a friendship with your dog.
🐾 Base that friendship on mutual respect.
🐾 Be consistently consistent for your dog.
🐾 Understand (and learn) that your body language is one of your most important tools when training your dog.
🐾 Remember that you chose them (not the other way round).

If you need help in 2026 here is how Ralph and I can help:

✔️ 121 Dog and Puppy Training
✔️ Family Training Sessions (children welcome)
✔️ Preparing your dog for the arrival of a Baby
✔️ Virtual Tip Sessions
✔️ Group Masterclasses
✔️ Breed Play Dates

🐾 Rare Post

I rarely post on here anymore, I simply don’t have the time.

Fortunately, Ralph and I have built a strong reputation that underpins Walk’Em, so our social media isn’t as active as it used to be but we are ok with that!

That said, sometimes you just need to share something and today is one of those days.

If you know us, you know we are inseprable, and today, I’ve been quietly chuckling to myself as it dawned on me that this is how Ralph starts his days, 3 times a week.

Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (in Autumn and Winter), our morning routines look a little different and it means that Ralph starts his day like this.

😂😂

I don’t know why it’s tickled me so much but this is how his morning has gone so far………….

✔️ His Dad gave him his bfast at 630am.
✔️ He got back into bed (on my side).
✔️ He gets himself positioned just right.
✔️ I tuck him in and that is where he will now stay until he is ready to get up and start his day for the second time.

Ralph truly has taught me the definition of complete unconditional love, and I can’t imagine my life without him.

We have a relationship that I never imagined was possible between a human and an animal.

🐾 Something to say…

I don’t post much on here these days, I’ve said all I need to say (in recent years) on my approach to training, welfare, and general dog etiquette.

If you like my style you book me, if you dont, you don’t!

However, this weekend (just gone), I thought I’d share that I got married and (of course), Ralph was there.

We are now the Partridge family.

My favourite boy had some positive news today!

Here is the lowdown:

🧡No further changes or deterioration.
🧡He has maintained his heart size, and stability.
🧡He can have his next scan in one year instead of 6 months.
🧡 Keep doing what we are doing.

Over the last 6 months we have followed all of the expert guidance (to the letter), and this feels like a huge reward for taking it seriously. Most people think I am a ‘control freak’ or ‘pedantic’ when it comes to Ralph’s exercise, nutrition, and overall health management, but I couldn’t care less.

You do you, and Ralph and I will do ‘us’.

If you don’t know by now, I live and breathe my dog.

🧡 Heart Scan No.2

I don’t post much on here these days, but as many of you know, 7 months ago Ralph got diagnosed with a heart condition (and we have been managing it since).

Today, he has his 2nd heart scan to see how we are progressing, and to make sure that we are doing everything we should be.

If you don’t know by know, I live for Ralph, he is my whole life, so I am hurrying Tuesday away so he can come home soon.

My best boy.

🐾 Do you feel like your dog isn’t listening, but you’re not sure why?

For January and February only, I’m offering 1hr, one-off sessions designed to help you better understand your dog’s behaviour, what they’re trying to tell you, and how to improve your communication as a handler.

These sessions are held outside in everyday walking environments, so we can work in real-life situations. Together, we’ll uncover what’s going on and give you the tools to make better decisions for you and your dog.

📍 Location: Feering
⏱ Duration: 1 hour

This is a great opportunity to start 2025 with a deeper connection and better understanding of your dog.

🐾 WhatsApp me to book your session or ask any questions.

⭐️ News ⭐️

It’s been a while since I posted!

The last couple of months have been consumed by Ralph being unwell (or me), so as we prepare for a busy 2025, we do have a little bit of news.

Ralph and I stepped back from boarding quite a few years ago now, and whilst we have no intentions of bringing a full diary back, we will be opening a few more spots in the diary for home boarding during 2025.

Ralph and I said goodbye to our little Izzy (our cat), in October and Ralph is missing her, so whilst I dont plan to go back to boarding full time, I am happy to open a few slots in 2025, and help those we know whilst also helping Ralph’s loss of our beloved little Izzy.

I have already taken on two bookings and plan to do no more than 6 for the whole year, so if you’d like to get booked in, please WhatsApp us.

My ‘extra’ info you might want to read before messaging:

✔️ We aren’t cheap.
✔️ We don’t board with other dogs.
✔️ We are a home and your dog will be treated the same as Ralph (as family).
✔️ We do not have any other pets except Ralph.
✔️ We do have a very active outdoor based lifestyle.
✔️ We do not take entire males.
✔️ We do not take human or animal reactive dogs.

Ralph and I look forward to seeing you and wish you a happy 2025.

🐾 Ralph News

Many of you have followed Ralph’s journey since his accident (a few years ago), and I am regularly asked how he is, and how is recovery is three years down the line.

So, here we are with a little news after a fab three years of enjoying life since his accident.

Today we found out my very best boy and complete soul mate, has got Mitral Valve Disease (a particular type of Heart Disease).

Last week an unwelcome heart murmur was detected at a routine appointment for his annual vaccination, and today we found out that two of his four heart valves are leaking.

So, we aren’t going to mope.

We are going to appreciate having this knowledge, and go into ‘action’ mode so that we can do our very best and enjoy all the things we love together, for a long time yet.

We got stuff to do Ralph, and your fans like to see what you are up to, so let’s get busy. 🧡💪
