Ticks!!!
It's that dreaded season guys! With the mild winter and all this warm weather they are rife!!
We go on different walks every day and have came home with them each day.

Where to look?
Around their groin
Beneath their collar (if wearing one)
Under their front legs
Under their tail
Inside their ears
Between their toes

Have tick tools preferably or tweezers and use twist method if you can. Tick legs have hooks so the twisting method unhooks them. Pulling them has chance of leaving some of tick in there especially the head. Afterwards be sure to clean tool and bite area with antiseptic spray. Drown tick with alcohol.

Keep an eye on bite area especially if it doesn't appear to go down after couple of days. Lyme disease is rife with the little blighters.

Symptoms to look out for:

Depression
Loss of appetite
Fever
Lameness
Swollen and painful joints
Swollen lymph nodes
Lethargy

If caught early Lyme disease can be treated with antibiotics.

Prevention is always better than cure. I had a constant problem with my cav Charlie. Frontline etc did nothing for him till my vet suggested the serresto collar. I've never looked back, cost approx £35 and lasts for approximately 8 months and waterproof.
