Today I went to The Great Scot Groom in Cumbernauld to run a trade stand and to compete in my second ever competition.

I 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘆/𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶 𝗣𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜 𝗢𝗡𝗟𝗬 𝗪𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗚𝗢𝗧 𝟭𝗦𝗧 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗘 🙌🏻

I absolutely did not expect any placing today, as it's the first time I have ever fully hand scissored a dog and styled a Poodle in competition, so just to get feedback from my incredible judge was more than enough. The fact she rates my groom highly enough to place 1st is just mind-blowing. Thank you Kelly, so so much.

Thank you also to Alisha Wingfield for inspiring me to have a go after watching you compete last year and congratulations on your amazing 2nd Place Handstrip with lovely Esmé.

Well done to everyone else who completed today and to all my amazing friends who also placed in their classes.

Peter & I will attending The Great Scot Grooming Show in Cumbernauld this Sunday (20th April).

We will have a stand selling EmmiPet products, Natural Treats & PowAir Odour Eliminator products so fellow groomers, come and say hello!

I will also competing in the afternoon in Intermediate Toy/Mini Poodle with the gorgeous Lacey - huge thanks to mum Fay for letting me steal her 🙌🏻

WHAT YOU DON'T SEE AT THE DOG GROOMERS.......
You dropped your dog off at the salon and picked them up few hours later - fluffy, fresh, and happy. But what you saw was just the tip of the iceberg.

You didn’t see your groomer arrive early to open up the salon, disinfect tools, lay out fresh towels, and check the day’s appointments. You didn’t see them look over your dog from nose to tail before even lifting a brush - checking the coat condition, skin, eyes, ears, nails, and weight.

You didn’t see the careful way they clipped around a wriggly paw, or how they paused to let your dog calm down during the bath. You didn’t notice the matting hidden beneath your dog’s topcoat, or the way the groomer worked slowly to avoid hurting the skin beneath it.

You weren’t there when they spotted a red patch of irritated skin, or a small lump you hadn’t noticed. You heard them gently mention it to you at collection - not to worry you, but because they genuinely care about your dog’s wellbeing.

And after you left, you didn’t see the clean-down , the floor swept, tables cleaned, blades oiled, messages replied to, notes written up for your next visit, and laundry on again.

All of that… for a price that’s often lower than what you’d pay for your own haircut. And your hairdresser?
They don’t have to bathe you, clip your nails, or hold you still while you try to bite the brush.

The truth is ……. dog grooming is so much more than a haircut.

It’s about health, hygiene, comfort, and trust. It’s about knowing dog anatomy, coat types, skin conditions, behaviour management, handling skills, and safe sc******ng techniques. It’s a profession that takes training, practice, and patience.
Most groomers got into this work because they love dogs. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be paid fairly for the physical, emotional, and skilled work they do every single day.

If your dog leaves their groomer happy, healthy and looking good - it’s not by luck. It’s because you have got a good groomer.
So next time, take a moment to thank them. Leave a review.

Tip them if you can. And above all - don’t undervalue them.
They’re doing far more than just washing the dog.

We have a charity Dog Wash Day on *𝟮𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹* from 10am to 4pm.
We will be scrubbing up lots of lovely doggies in a bid to raise as much money at possible for Any Dog'il Do Rescue.

There will also be volunteers from the charity running a tombola stall in the office, so make sure you bring your pennies too.

We have a donations bin in reception for any and all donations for the charity, such as;
• Dog Treats & Food
• Dog Toys & Enrichment
• Dog Health & Wellbeing
• Human Gift Sets & Toiletries
• Alcohol & Beverages
• Tins/Boxes of Biscuits and Chocolates
The charity will use some for their rescue dogs and put some into their raffle/tombola stalls to help raise vital funds. So please consider donating to the bin when you visit us.

This afternoon I popped over to in Dunfermline to help her with some extra Teeth Cleaning Training, although she really didn't need any help 😜

Sophie produced some fantastic results with Murdo the Skye Terrier, removing most of the encrusted tartar with just one 30 minute EmmiPet session.
Using the correct tools and having efficient techniques, EmmiPet is an exceptionally good tool for helping reduce plaque and tartar and maintain good oral health.

She used tools that are completely non abrasive (no metal scrapers used at all as these WILL damage your dogs teeth, so be sure to ask whoever is cleaning your dogs teeth exactly what they're using).

Sophie has a fantastic manner with the dogs, calming and reassuring throughout which helps her to get such great results.

If you're in the Dunfermline area, definitely get your dog booked in!

Any Dog'il Do Rescue will have a tombola on the day (Falkirk only) so bring your change!

We will be collecting donations for the charity on the day as well in Falkirk & Glasgow, so please bring along any unwanted toys, treats, bedding etc.
