DEFRA have strengthened their guidance from 12th January for dog groomers.

The revised statement reads : Welfare reasons could include on veterinary advice for a skin condition or excessive matting causing the pet discomfort.

As you know I closed last week as I believe in my part in protecting the NHS, my customers and my own family. I have now cancelled all appointments to middle of February.
I will rebook all customers who have had their appointments cancelled as soon as I'm sure on an opening date.

If you believe your pet has matting and is affecting them or a vet has advised treatment please message or call me but I can only do grooms with the above concerns and will need evidence to support this for my insurance and also in case I'm stopped to see if I'm breaking lockdown restrictions.

Lockdown update

I have just spoken to Norfolk trading standards, until legislation is passed in the commons tomorrow as it stands I'm only aloud to do welfare grooms which they class that the dog is suffering and not just for a haircut. So I will be closed unless a regular customer believes their dog is in need of a welfare groom which I would discuss with you .
I will be ringing everyone that has an appointment in the next few days, of course I will be here for advise and guidance if needed.
I'm sorry to disappoint any customers.

** Update Monday 21st December, 5pm. Boo is still missing - please keep sharing and keeping an eye out. Boo was last seen near the sand dunes on Holkham beach on Saturday afternoon. Let's get Boo home to her family for Christmas**

Boo was lost on Holkham Beach yesterday afternoon and is still missing today.

If you’re out and about in the area today, please keep an eye out. If found, she has a tag on her collar with phone numbers of owners in Burnham Thorpe. Alternatively, please contact Lisa Wheeler.

Thank you. Please share 🤞🏻Let’s get Boo home to her family.

I’m busy trying to get everything in place ready to start work with the correct cleaning products and ppe suitable for mobile groomers. I'm also learning about the virus and management of infection

21/04/2020

Some of you might have seen Coronavirus Q&A on ITV last night where the question was raised about whether dogs are able to be groomed.

The answer given was that salon groomers are non essential and should be closed, but mobile groomers can operate as long as social distancing guidelines are adhered to.

This is not new information, it’s always been the case and it’s important to note that the information given in the answer was not wrong.

It has always formed part of the government guidelines that you can travel for the purpose of work where it is not possible to work from home.

The problem comes from the fact that although it’s legal to work, it’s just not viable to achieve the level of hygiene that would be required to eradicate any sign of the virus from the dog, the van, and me.

There are many other reasons that I should not be working including reasons relating to the safety of the dog during a ‘contact free’ handover, but for this one reason alone, taking in to account that I would be visiting multiple households and grooming multiple dogs, I cannot, in good conscience risk spreading the virus any further and sending it back in to your home.

The current restrictions do not even allow me to visit my own family or anybody from another household, so I’m sorry, but I won’t risk visiting your household either.

Please, please keep following the government advice to;

STAY AT HOME 💙 PROTECT THE NHS 💙 SAVE LIVES

Thank you so much for understanding and I promise I’ll see you as soon as it’s safe to do so.

With last nights announcement that we will be on lockdown for a further 3 weeks I would like to reaffirm that I will remain closed for this period.

I am desperate to get back to work to see you all but for the safety of not only myself but you and your families this is just not feasible.

Stay safe,
I hope to see you soon.

Dog groomers standing together for the NHS.

This salon is proud to be one of thousands of grooming businesses following the government and industry guidelines, closing to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus

These are difficult times and much as we would like to be open, we must do what we can to protect our clients and protect the NHS.

We miss our clients and understand that they will be getting hairier, and being closed will have a huge impact on our small business but the health and safety of humans must come first!
Dog grooming is not an essential service and all salons, including home salons and mobile vans have been recommended to close to limit the spread of the virus, though we are aware some are still trying to work it is not worth the risk to have your dog groomed. Frontline workers are putting their lives and their families lives at risk to keep us safe.

Please Stay at home

-Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (if you are a key worker)

-If you go out, stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people at ALL times

-Do not meet others, even friends or family. You can spread the virus even if you don’t have symptoms.

Rest assured that we will be doing all we can once we reopen to get everyones grooms caught up. Please stay home, protect yourself protect your loved ones and protect the NHS.
