Had a great meet up this morning with Nicky from Equicode 😁 It's always amazing to meet like-minded professionals and Nicky sure is one! She is an amazing coach - really looking at the biomechanics involved in the horse-human partnership, including the bond that can be achieved with understanding, patience and a variety of activities. She has a great understanding of behavioural science - another part of a holistic approach to horse care and importantly, puts ethics and welfare first

So Noddy came back again this week ….

We started of by doing some in-hand work, even though Noddy has clocked up a fair few repetitions of his stop, Step-back, go, lengthening and shortening buttons, and his head down at home - it’s always a good idea to check the quality of the responses in hand in a new environment… we spent about 20mins playing and he was very obedient, calm and relaxed, there has to be something in it for him so he was rewarded with some hay and a rest in the stable…..
We then brought him out again and asked him the same questions in hand and because he was so obedient, calm and relaxed his mummy got on board…..
Mounted we just went through the same process of checking that the buttons all worked - he was a little superstar 🤩….
he had a walk and trot, played over a few poles and ended with a super canter around the arena on both reins …. This second session was probably about another 20 mins… there wasn’t any reason to ask any more of him, we don’t want him to leave the arena frazzled - we want him to leave having had a positive experience.

Noddy came out to play - a first for this little man - a ride out in the trailer, a little bit of work in the arena checking his stop, step-back, go, turn and head down buttons…all that hard work required a rest - Noddy munched his hay happily in a stable whilst we had a well earned cuppa!
Suitably refreshed we did a little more work.
Noddy was a superstar, he had a chilled and stress free outing, next time we will do some ridden work, but for today this was enough ….

A brief intro to Equicode - based just outside of Fakenham, Norfolk.
If you haven’t already popped round for coffee and cake and a chat pre lesson, post lesson or just passing by then here are a few photos to show you what awaits your welcome….. along side of fab indoor facilities with a classroom and kitchen we have a 20x 60 outdoor arena which rides beautifully.
And the reason for creating Equicode ?

I’m passionate about ethical, sustainable training - you will find that the horses welfare and clear understanding of the aids are paramount here, marrying that up with rider biomechanics it makes for a great combination of effective horse and rider training.
We don’t offer shortcuts and quick fixes but we will take you on a journey of learning and enlightenment, how thinking outside the box can make massive changes to both your riding and the horses way of going.
As an accredited Mary Wanless Ride With Your Mind Coach you can expect detailed bespoke rider biomechanics tuition, if you are nervous or having a confidence crisis then we have patience in abundance, if you are competitive we will help you reach your goals.
If you want to improve your riding and spend some quality time with your horse we could be just the environment for you …….
We are easy to find and have plenty of parking space.

Our aim is to provide quality coaching at affordable prices

Lessons are available
1-2-1 £30 for an hours tuition

Come with a friend and have a shared lesson, we can discuss our findings in a workshop session work on your realignment (there will be coffee and cake) and then ride again putting your new pieces into practice….. 3 hours of horsey fun for
£75 per person.

Ladies and Gentlemen that Lunch and Learn days are available, spend some time with like minded supportive people, have a 45 min lesson, stay and watch other lessons, chat over lunch, these are very chilled, laidback days perfect for just getting you and your horse out …..
£35 per person
