It's another hot day out there today so please take care. Melon went for her walk at 7.30 this morning and despite temps only being 15° the sun is strong and hot, making it feel so much hotter. We're so lucky to have all our green spaces which provide natural cooling stations for our dogs, the river for a paddle, the trees for shade and the wet dew on the grass all help to keep us and your dogs cool on their walk. So I urge you to use these amazing spaces when walking your dogs. As you can see Melon isn't even panting after an hour outside both on and off lead, she only started panting when we were in the direct sun. Also please bear in mind different breeds cope with heat differently to others. Melon is very fine coated so doesn't suffer too much from heat but I need to be careful of her being in the sun so the UV rays don't pe*****te her coat and burn her as you can see her skin through her fine coat. We met a Cockerpoo who has a much thicker coat and was clearly struggling with the heat much more than melon, his tongue was hanging from the side of his mouth and he was panting quickly, this is a visible sign your dog is struggling and needs to go home.
