I still can’t get over Roxy. 😂

The day she arrived, she bolted completely out of sight. I knew exactly where she’d gone — straight to the rabbit holes. Sure enough, that’s exactly where I found her.

Even with treats, praise, and all the love in the world, she was never a dog you could fully trust off lead. Her prey drive was through the roof, and let’s be honest, chasing a rabbit was far more exciting than hanging out with us.

But bring out a bubble machine...

Suddenly, she can’t bear to be more than two inches away from you. She’s glued to your hip, staring at the machine like it’s the greatest invention ever created, just waiting for you to press that button.

We’ve gone from constantly watching for rabbits to constantly watching our feet because she’s determined to trip us up. 😂😂

Who knew that after all those training sessions, the one thing more exciting than a rabbit would turn out to be bubbles? 🫧🐰

The moment you sit down for a breather and a quick drink, there's always one dog that insists on using you as their personal climbing frame.

Despite reminding them that they have a whole field to play in, they somehow decide you're still the most exciting option. 😆

What it's like walking 8 dogs 🐾

Yes, I am fully insured for this number!!

It's been a while walking out on public land 😅

Having a 150 acres private walk, a 70 acre private walk and 6 acres of private training land, and in this day and age, especially with the numbers we have, it is a rarity to be able to go out and it felt pawsome!! 🥰

What has happened to the dog industry? 💔

I remember walking dogs before Covid, and although there was the occasional negativity on line, it was nothing like it is now.

Back then, the community felt supportive. I had such a huge following, and other dog professionals were always encouraging — especially when it came to my training posts with my sheep, Chopsy.

People genuinely enjoyed seeing dogs thrive.

No one cared about where you walked, unless they wanted to try it out for themselves.

No one obsessed over numbers of dogs walked at one time.

No one questioned whether you had someone helping you.

What mattered was simple:
Were the dogs happy?
Were they safe, loved, and cared for?
Did the clients feel at ease knowing their dogs were having the best time possible?

That’s what this industry used to be about.

These days, it feels like there’s always a handful of people ready to nitpick something without knowing the full story.

There’s always someone trying to tear you down, assuming they know exactly how you run your business based on one photo, one video, or one moment online.

This isn't about one negative comment. It's an ongoing hammering, and I know I'm not the only person/Dog buiness who's been on the receiving end of it. People can be relentless!!

A few years ago, I stepped away from my business page because mentally, I wasn’t okay. The constant negativity got to me more than people realised. I stopped posting publicly and kept everything private, clients only.

And honestly, that was such a shame — not just for me, but for the people who genuinely loved my posts, supported my work, and enjoyed following the dogs’ journeys as well as my dream team.

But I’m making a comeback.

This time, I feel mentally stronger, more confident in what I’ve built, and I will not tolerate unnecessary negativity anymore.

My clients know the level of care their dogs receive.

They trust the team I’ve built.

They see the love, structure, care, and happiness behind the scenes every single day.

I stay in contact with my local council to keep updated on any changes, I keep my insurance and business requirements up to date, and I work hard to keep my buiness running smoothly.

So if you don’t like how I do things, that’s absolutely fine — but keep scrolling.

Because at the end of the day, the dogs are happy, the clients are happy, and that’s what truly matters. 🐾

On that note, I appologise for those that were effected by the negative comments yesterday, so, lets give Darren a heart felt send of shall we??

Good bye Darren, I hope you cheer up one day, wishing you all the best in life 👋

Please note, we are on private land, 150 acres, just us there, it's heaven 😇

When the weather’s been that hot, it starts to feel less like summer and more like being trapped on the world’s sweatiest all-inclusive holiday… one you never actually booked and definitely can’t escape from. (Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday 🤣)

But THANK GOODNESS the temperature is finally calming down and we are BACK.

An early morning short walk today and then we are officially back on the menu as of tomorrow 😇

You can tell the dogs are just as relieved as we are — especially the regulars who haven’t seen you for half a week. They react like you’ve returned home from war.

Pure excitement from the second they hear the van arrive, listening to your foot steps getting closer to the front door, the rattle of keys when you open the front door and boom.

Pure chaos 😂😂

Tails wagging so vigorously they look like they might actually detach. Dogs dragging you down the road, “MOVE REBECCA, THERE'S THE VAN, LETS GO LETS GO LETS GOOOOOOO.”

You get to the walk and zoomies are firing off left, right and centre. Dogs throwing themselves at each other like long-lost best friends in a cheesy reunion movie.

Some are playing like it’s their very first day alive. Others are playing like it might be their last ever chance to touch grass 😂
As a dog walker, these are the best moments.

Happy faces. Wagging tails. Absolute harmony. 💕

…Until home time.

Home time is the one part of dog walking that absolutely sucks.

You get back to the van and the SECOND you say “right then, home time,” the mood changes instantly. Faces drop. Heads lower. Tails stop wagging.

The betrayal in their eyes is unmatched.

Suddenly they act like you’ve personally ruined their entire lives.

For some dogs, home time means hiding in bushes, convinced they’ve mastered military camouflage.

For others, it means crawling under the van like, “lets see you try and take us home now.”

Some just sprint in the opposite direction at full speed with absolutely no plan whatsoever.

Some turn it into a game of “catch me if you can.”

Some suddenly become expert negotiators:
“I’ll get in the van… for one bag of treats and immunity from all future baths.”

And then there are the dramatic ones.
The ones who lie flat on the ground, close their eyes, and genuinely believe that if they can’t see you… you can’t see them 🤣

Both Rebecca and I absolutely LOVE being a dog walker 🥰

Here’s to all the dog walkers who have had to cancel walks this week.

To the ones living paycheck to paycheck, making the heartbreaking decision to put the welfare of the dogs first — even when rent is due, bills are piling up, and the food shop still needs paying for.

You are my heroes.

I feel incredibly lucky that my main outgoings are my vehicles, because I know for so many others, these weather extremes are hitting hard. And sadly, this is becoming our new normal — wet winters, unbearable spring and summer heat, one extreme after another.

Over the couple of years, so many new dog walkers have started their businesses, stepping into this industry at one of the toughest times imaginable.

The weather hasn’t just affected our income — it’s affected our mental health too. The stress, the uncertainty, the constant worry… it takes its toll.

And on top of all that, the cost of living has risen so dramatically.

Fuel costs, vehicle maintenance, insurance, food prices, rent, mortgages, utilities — everything has gone up, while many of us are earning less because of cancelled walks and unsafe temperatures.

It’s an exhausting balance trying to keep a business afloat while also trying to survive personally. For so many dog walkers, it feels like no matter how hard we work, we’re constantly trying to catch up.

But still, we keep going.

Why?

Because this is more than just a job to us. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a passion. It’s something we pour our whole hearts into every single day.

No matter the weather, no matter the setbacks, we continue showing up because we love these dogs like they’re our own.

So to every dog walker struggling quietly this week — I see you, I respect you, and I hope you’re proud of yourself for putting the dogs first, even when it costs you.

I honestly can’t believe what I’ve been reading online these past few days.

It’s 2026. The information is everywhere. Every summer, vets, charities, and animal welfare organisations repeat the same warnings about protecting dogs in hot weather — yet people are still ignoring them.

At 30°C, people are still taking dogs to beaches, dragging them around fairs and shows, walking them in the middle of the day, and worst of all… leaving them in cars.

Why?

At what point do we start putting the welfare of animals before convenience?

Personally, I believe events should seriously consider banning dogs when temperatures are dangerously high. And there should be zero tolerance for leaving dogs in vehicles. Not “just for five minutes.” Not “with the window cracked.” Dogs die in hot cars far quicker than people realise.

Hearing reports of dogs collapsing at Devon County Show was heartbreaking enough, but hearing about the way some owners responded with complete disregard and lack of compassion is absolutely sickening. And let’s be honest — this is not an isolated incident.

I sympathise with owners who are away on holiday and unable to leave their dog behind. But dragging them around in extreme heat because you don’t want to change your plans is not kindness. Sitting in the shade at a dog-friendly café, shortening walks, or staying indoors during peak temperatures is far safer than forcing them through crowded events and scorching conditions.

And please, can we stop with the “dogs live in hot countries and they’re fine” argument.

Dogs living in hotter climates are acclimatised over long periods of time. Experts state that acclimatisation can take weeks or even months, and some dogs may never cope well with heat at all — especially brachycephalic breeds (flat-faced dogs), elderly dogs, overweight dogs, puppies, and dogs with breathing or heart conditions.

Dogs do not regulate heat like humans. They cannot sweat efficiently through their skin and rely mainly on panting and limited sweat glands in their paw pads to cool themselves down. Once they begin overheating, heatstroke can happen rapidly — and heatstroke can kill.

Then there’s the pavements. If it’s too hot for your bare feet, it’s too hot for their paws. Tarmac and pavements can become dangerously hot in direct sun, causing painful burns and blistering within minutes. Damaged paw pads don’t just hurt — they also affect a dog’s ability to naturally regulate body temperature.

This heat is uncomfortable for us. For dogs, it can be deadly.

Please think before you take them out.

🚫🐾 All walks are cancelled this week 🐾🚫

If your dog walker is cancelling walks this week and offering pop-ins instead, it’s not because we “can’t be bothered” or want to enjoy the sunshine ourselves — it’s because your dogs’ welfare comes first.

In these temperatures, the risk of heat stroke is very real, and no walk is worth putting a dog’s life at risk.

Please remember: when we close or cancel walks, we also lose income. We make these decisions because we care more about your dogs’ safety than making money.

It’s honestly heartbreaking to still see people walking dogs during the hottest parts of the day, especially at lunchtime. I witnessed this myself while driving for to collect bits from town and unfortunately couldn’t stop to explain just how dangerous it can be.

So what can you do instead of physical exercise?
👉 Mental stimulation!

I’ve been working on Kinky’s “wait” command and teaching him not to cross thresholds without a release cue. Short training sessions, enrichment games, snuffle mats, lick mats, frozen treats, and scent work are all fantastic ways to tire dogs out safely.

With the horses and sheep, we’re up early feeding and topping up water, then back out again in the evening — last night it was 9pm before temperatures were finally comfortable enough.

Please keep your pets safe this week. 💛

I hope you’re all staying as hydrated as a duck in this warm weather 💦🦆

Havn't they grown 😍

Puddle 💛, Bellatrix 🖤, Goose 🤎 and Po 🪶🎩 absolutely love fishing out their mealworms 😋

With walks very likely being cancelled this week due to the extreme heat, we’ll finally have the time to finish the duck area 🥰

I can’t wait to start putting together their new pen and pond, creating their forever home 🏡🦆

It’s going to be fully hawk- and fox-proof because, believe it or not, not only have our neighbours sadly lost chickens to goshawks, but we’ve also had a fox right on our doorstep two days in a row! Beautiful to see, but definitely anxiety-inducing 😅

It’s the only time I let the dogs bark their little heads off and give chase 😂
